Drove a Shelby GT500 tonight

All I can say is b-a-d-a-s-s... I wanted to open her up, but my wife stopped me

It's a 2010 and the guy wants $44K for it.

44k for a 2010?

WTF

That'd be like asking sticker for a C5 corvette.

We received only 3 ZL1s here, and I was into one for about 20 minutes until some guy came in with $72K cash. Cash talks financing walks... so I ended up with what I came in for (13 2SS/RS Black IO interior 6M). I never got the chance to drive the ZL1. The GT500 tonight is toting 620 WHP, and I would have to say that supercharger was wrapping up pretty quickly (the best thing about superchargers is zero lag). Just a nice feeling. It's something I wouldn't mind having, but since I just got the 2SS/RS, I'm happy having what I got, since it has never been abused and I am the first owner and it has so much potential to build up from.

WTF I said the same thing to myself. I didn't ask why it was so low in price, but my wife suspects there's issues with it. A woman's intuition is deeper than we think, and she's probably more right than wrong.

I came from Mustangs and Cobras.
had Shelbys and they are very nice and would have bought a 13 if it were nto for crazy dealer markups over MSRP.
here locally they want nearly 80k for a stock 13 GT500.

I could have gotten a friend of mines 2000 mile ZL1 at the dealer I bought mine from.
but he actually talked me out of it and back into the Dusk 2SS.

they are both incredible cars.. flat out.
Like the Cobra a bit more specially inside.
the Ford Computer and display is far superior to the cheezy trip computer we get. ZL1 gets a few more menus but they don't hold a candle to the 13s computer.
Have to admit was very underwhelmed at that but do love the HUD in the Camaros.

even the 13 regular GTs have an amazing color screen computer in between the gauges with even a track menu with all kinds of cool stuff in it.

LOL! I think the other guy was saying that the price is too high for a 2010.

What was his reasoning for talking you out of the ZL1? He had one and didn't like it?

If you are in the USA, the price is right on (check Autotrader for a 10 Shelby GT500; $40K~$50K depending on miles and mods), but here in Kuwait, you're really low, and I'm WTF because for here it is really low.

Get a 2011 5.0 add a CAI, tune, exhaust, suspension, etc. and you will have a better performing car than the GT500 all while saving money.

Steeda has has been taking cars to that next level ... just like we have been doing with Camaros.

Pass on the 44k price tag

The Shelby is still a badass Mustang though. Was also trying to get a '12 model before but dealers wouldn't budge below 50K even when the more powerful '13s were right around the corner... good thing, I like the Boss 302 just as much and humbled to have one. Lots of robust power from its forged internals, plus its cool history and the limited production.

Or he can just Pedderise his current 13 Camaro and stick a blower on the LS3 and mop the floor with that 2010 and a new GT500. You got a 2013 SS, and you got the right car. I'd go with a 2012 or newer SS over a pre 2011 GT500 any day. Even a 2011 or 2012 would be a tough sell for me over a brand new SS, and this is coming from a Mustang owner. If I was able to fit in an SS with my helmet on for track duty, I would have that instead of my GT, but as it is right now, I love my Mustang, I love the mods it has on it, and I feel like it is a perfect balance of performance for the money, and an amazing mix between a street and track car. It's like my own sub 40k GT3 lol
