This.

Salespeople are crooks and experts at screwing you, but heck - we should at least educate ourselves with their tactics! Ignorant people should not deal with sales-people. We consult "better" people for investments, our health, and our children - why not buying cars?

So Wednesday we Roll up to the dealership in the new car and the sales man who sold her the car comes up and starts talking, He tells us there was some kind of hitch with the financing and they had to raise the rate to something like 5.49 and precedes to tell us that's a really good rate.... I took a couple minutes to educate him on what a Good rate is on a car and left him sputtering in the parking lot (my first car with no credit was 2.9 and apparently I left such an Impression on the gf doing this I had to tell the story to both sides of the family over thanksgiving)
So we get into the financing office and here is where I was impressed, They explain the bank went up a hair on the rate they originally signed on and this increased the price so what they did was knock off about $200ish of the price and got the car payment slightly lower than what it was the first time.

Aside from my run in with the salesman I didn't feel like burning the place to the ground when we left.

She has 3 days or something like that to take back the car. Read the fine print.

Yep. It's if you're not at the business I believe where it's impossible for you to have all the information at your service.

Although in some states there is a caveat for a gym membership I believe.

Yes it is true. I purchased a 2012 Chrysler 300 and had 3 days to return it which i did. It was also in the contract. Some dealers give you 7 days but their is a mileage limitation as well before you have to keep the vehicle.

That is State specific. In California there is a "No cooling off period" law, meaning once you sign you cannot bring it back period end of story. Some dealers have an internal policy that allows it, I know my Chevy dealer does allow 5 days, but that is on the dealer, they do not have to do it, the law is on their side in the matter.

It also means that if they can't get you financed, they can ask for the vehicle back and charge you for the usage/mileage on it since you left the lot.

This is one of the reasons I take in my own financing, because frankly I do not grasp the concept of signing a contract without the dealer actually having the financing in place and the finance company having actually transferred the funds prior to releasing the vehicle, this is 2012; an EFT can be made to happen in minutes, there is no excuse for a dealer taking several days to find out they could not get you financed.

So, is that even legal? They can raise the rate AFTER you sign papers and charge you the new rate? That doesn't seem right.
Good thing you kept your cool. I would have been heated as well.

It sounds like they are trying to increase points/interest rate after the fact, I would no way go for it, call your states Attorney Generals office in Arkansas here is the number to the consumer protection division.
