Today. Started back at the gym a few weeks ago after a two year layoff. Feels great to be back. Experiencing some soreness this week, but after that's over, it's HAMMER time

I work out five times a week, and I alternate every other week.
One week is 2 weight training days, and 3 cardio/running days. The next week it is 3 weight training and 2 cardio, with weekends off. Its been awhile since I did a one rep bench max, but I hit 300lbs before. I could probably do about 275 right this second. Rather, I try to maintain the ability to do 225lbs for 10 reps as a baseline. |

Thats a solid goal. 225 is more than enough for the normal lifter IMO.

Due to shoulder injury, I lost most of my strength in bench. I used to be around the 265 mark at 10 reps, now I'd be lucky to get 185 =( I am back at it and working hard. I just started P90x and doing insanity when I can. all and all about 5-6 times a week. Been keeping my body mass between 190-205 pounds at the most.

Wednesday.
All my exercises are body weight and all HIIT. I never rest for more than 30 seconds between sets or exercises. I also run as well and I do intervals out there (ie 30 min of running 30 sec sprint, 30 sec jog). Finally I do triathlon training as well, so I swim and bike on top of some of that stuff.

How many of y'all actually bench the right way?
No arched back, not going all the way down to where the bar touches your chest? A lot of big #'s here which I rarely see at the gym let alone doing the right form. |

In my case I was doing incline bench press and had to reach back behind me to get the bar and lift it using half pects and half tricepts to get it up and rotate it forward to get it above me. It was at that moment that my shoulder caught fire. REALLY sucked. My dumb ass figured I'd work out of it and when I brought the weight down I found myself crawling out from underneath it. 225 pounds on and incline bench is NOT fun to have sitting on your stomach. ![]() Spotter could have helped unrack the bar and get it over me. |

i've only worked out at a gym a couple times. i prefer working out at home because i can go at my own pace and not stand around in between sets. Plus i don't need a bunch of expensive equipment.

![]() Bonnie can verify my weights. My max is 295 and I put it up 3 times that day. I never actually got 305 up. I should have just put it on that day. I'm 5' 4" tall and at the time I put the 295 up it was 130 pounds over my body weight. Admitedly I spent a lot of time on the 'Hollywood' muscles. Low rep, heavy weight was how I liked to lift. 2 minutes between sets. |
