Our prices are inching up on $4 a gallon out here, and it sucks. Money is really tight right now for us, and paying out the yazoo for gas doesn't help things any... Hope this changes really soon...

There was a station in Malibu that had Premium (only 91 out here) for the low price of $6.09 9/10 last week.

California requires all the fuel sold here to be a special blend, that just happens to only be made here. Not only do we get a lower octane, we get lower mpg due to the extra detergents, and it's easier to gouge when there are only 3 refineries making the product.

Add in the fact that the state has a flat tax that is higher than the federal tax per gallon, and then they add in local sales tax on top of it. We are shelling out over $1.00 per gallon just in taxes.

Anyone want to move to Cali? If I could, I'd be out of here in half a heart beat. The weather is amazing, but the rest of the crap that you have to put up with is sooooooooo not worth it.

Gas was anywhere from $4.69, the lowest regular to $5.01 right off the freeway exit, Spirit gas station. Some spirit. Chevron had gas for $4.69. Up in Oregon, it is about $4.05 on average, just for regular, and you can't pump your own gas in Oregon. They do your windshields if you ask or are a good looking woman.

This is one way to make a hybrid or electric vehicle competitive, but not the way most of us prefer.

I lived in Southern Cal up until about 2 years ago. Love it there but the cost of living there chases alot of people from the state, including me:(

Your condolances are much appreciated, non- CA friends! I watched my "bargain" gas station last week, in a single 24- hour period, jump $.42/ gallon! Record spike.... it's never even come CLOSE to that kind of price escalation. This weekend, I'm gonna head for Vegas to get some of that cheap gas... gonna line the trunk with a tarp, fill it up like a hot tub, and fill the back seat with Hefty bags full of gasoline (I'm not an idiot... I'm going to DOUBLE bag 'em for safety's sake!).

I honestly don't think gas is going to go down here, even when the stations switch over to the winter blend. It's $5.61/gal in San Jose for 91, been driving the dually diesel cuz it's only $4.29 a gallon. I hate CA laws.....

You must live in So. Or? I've been meaning to take a trip down to Yreka as I need to go to a CA DMV to do some paperwork on a lien sale bike I bought.

$4.29 for 91 here when I filled up this last Friday.
