The F-16's are one of the aircraft used for the Topgun Pilots along with the F-18 Hornet and Super Hornet. The F-16's aren't used as advesary aircraft like the F-5's. This is the only navy outfit that I know that fly's the F-16, but we do train Navy, Marine as well as Airforce pilots.... so it's best that the best have the option of flying more than 1 type of aircraft for training.

During my lunchbreak, I went to get an official estimate on what the powdercoat and paint on my new wheels will be. Let's just say, unless Rob gets me that for my birthday in September, it's gonna be a little while longer before I have pics of the real thing...

Awww! It's not as bad as it used to be. I just hate giving up my week ends. The OT helps with the mods or things like this

The price they quoted me is already wholesaler rates, since I'm such a good repeat customer Powdercoating alone is right in line with what other places charge, the price grows quite a bit when you add labor for painting the red parts over the powdercoat... That's OK, though, I don't mind waiting a little longer to get exactly what I want. Perfection has a price.

So now I guess we have to go on a spell of talking about our Camaro matching purses. That is a nice one Dragonlady. I have aaaaaaaaaaa let's see 4 of them now I think. Must get pics to post. Sorry guys. I finally got caught up with work stuff. I hate being behind & constantly in "hurry-up mode". It was a long day though & now I'm tired. Good night gang.

Makes sense. Surprised to hear they're still using the F-5. I was at a ANG base in Michigan while the AF's Red Flag Group was there for war games. That was back during the cold war, and they were an interesting outfit. Lived the role of Russian pilots to great detail. The F-5 was chosen because it was a good analog to the MiG 21. But I'll bet you already knew that....!

I've been out of the powdercoating business too long to have any pull anymore. Anyway, it sounds like the painting is the expensive part. You should consider doing it yourself. You can do it. The prep work is what really counts in a job like this. If you take your time doing it, I'm sure you could get very satisfying results for a fraction of the cost. I know PNWCC did a painting workshop. (Rochelle went to it.) I can't remember offhand who conducted it, but I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

They'll be doing the painting with the tires off, and baking it after so it will last... I don't have the right equipment. Then there's the mounting and balancing without scratching the paint and powdercoat - they have some guy that has special equipment for that too... AND, they back up their work, so touch ups will be cheap, if not free, if I need them.
I'll just save my pennies and have it done right! I don't mind waiting.

Yeah, that powdercoating ain't cheap. I was thrilled with my quarterly bonus this time because it paid off the rest of my wheels, tires & powdercoating & I had $300 left over. I already have a plan for spending it at the Fest! Woooooooo Hooooooooo! Good morning everyone. HAGD.
