He never did it again but I never forgot it. Getting backhanded and choked (and a host of other things) kind of gets burned into your memory. Like I said I was ashamed and didn't talk about it for years. Now, I tell people. Especially girls who get beat on by their men. It never gets better-- he just switched to the psychological abuse.
