Come on guys. I mean, I know it's a Camaro forum and I know I personally like the Camaro better, but let's think about this. (And I know this isn't exactly how things are for him, but I'm making a point).

If someone said "Here you go. Here's $27,000. You can spend ONLY this amount. You may not draw from your own funds or get another loan. This is the only money you're allowed to spend. And you can spend it on one of two cars.

1) A brand new Camaro 1LT, V-6, DOHC DI 304hp.
OR
2) A brand new Mustang GT, 5.0 DOHC 400hp.

Honestly guys, how many of you would choose the V-6 over the V-8? Personally if I could only afford one or the other, I'd be riding a stallion.

That being said, I hope you make the right choice, work some over time, save up some money over the next 6 months, or win a $10,000 scratch off lottery ticket and make the decision to go back to a new 1SS Camaro
Thats the plan..

I 100% agree. If I was buying a performance car and I could get a V6 of one model or a V8 model of the other, I'd choose the V8 no problem.

Didn't your fOrD exploder give you enough troubles to last a lifetime?

It did, but it was a combination of me being hair brained, pissed at the world, and fighting through college on a shoestring budget. Looking back, it really didn't deserve it. (Other than the axle seals that failed.. )

But the drive line, that thing was bulletproof even for a Cologne. And what really ended the "I HAET TEH EXPLODUR" was the ease at which that major axle repair was done (TWICE!) Try doing that with an IRS, costs would skyrocket. In the end the economy bit my arse, but I'll be back for a used 5th gen and you can take that to the bank.

I can't just leave that car in the dust; both have so much potential and the 'stang, halfheartedly, is going to be my first victim.

Ford does not make a minivan anymore ... they were "nice" but no match to the king Mopar.

The Windstar shared the basic 3.8L V6 that the Mustang used up through 2004, but no Ford minivan ever came from the factory with a Mustang V8. The Freestar (Windstar replacement) used a 3.9L or 4.2L V6, both based on the same basic 3.8L block (including bore dia.) just with increased stroke.

Kinda funny though that the freestar's replacement, the Flex, ran a mid 14 on the ecotec TT V6.. Not to mention the 13sec confirmed Lincoln run..

And you people were knocking Ford for not having any performance vehicles? Can't wait for the TC DII4 to pop up in some more of GM's small cars and maybe a variant of the 'beloved' DIV6 in TT form for something like..say, the Orlando and the SRX?

Next thing you know every damn domestic car will have drag/track possibilities. Eat it, Greenies. This thread may get more interesting..

You sure about going with the 5.0L?

Ive heard a boost controller on the EcoBoost will get you 400+hp along with 30mpg

Depends on what Z plan price I can get. If they charge up the butt for the Coyote..who knows.

But if they leave the GT/GT Premium Coyote and 6/6 Premium Ecoboost prices similar to 2010 cars.. It could go either way. There's also the fact that if GM pulls up its pants, gets out of this predicament, and finally irons out the production/QC/delivery issues on the car..

Prices could become a wash, leading me back to the Land of the Mullet. Granted in my avatar my hair is WAY too short for mullet contention, and still is to this day.

On another note as seen recently:

I just hope that some of my constituents on this site would stop being so short sighted and blinded by the wars, and take note of the fact that both GM and Ford make a damn fine product instead of resorting to trash talking and bashing the other side. Some of you aren't guilty of this..but others that I won't name out of opinionated influence and common courtesy need a reality check.

Im gonna guess the Mustangs get priced...

Base v6 21k

Ecoboost V6 26.5k

Coyote v8 31k

In which case the V6 would be looking mighty fine

I doubt the Cologne will be kept in the 6. The Ecoboost/Cyclone is the direct successor to the Cologne and more or less has supplanted the Cologne in Ford's lineup at this point in time. My guess is for them to follow GM's lead and just plant the Ecoboost Cyclone in the LT/LS price slot and the Coyote stuffed GT to remain as is, granted with the adjusted 30-31K price point.

Again, it also depends on what I can get for Z plan pricing. IMO though, I want to steer clear of the 3.5 Ecoboost ATM because of the issues I'm currently seeing with my mother's Edge which uses a N/A 3.5L Duratec Cyclone. One of a few factors that set me on the path to the Coyote. Cheap V8 being one of the others.

Also of note; I don't know about you guys, but I've found that my insurance is higher on the Mustang than on a 2SS Camaro.

123/mo on a 2SS vs 180/mo on a GT Base. I'm thinking though that the first quote was more an off the wall estimate due to the time at which it was requested. I'd think it would equal the GT if not surpass it at this point in time. Hot car = liability issue is a good possibility with all the attention it gets (and accident reports by association).

Congrats dude.....I test drove one of those and one thing I really liked was the sound of the V8. Really, really nice. They did a good job with that Mustang.
