The only thing I don't like about this 2013 is what they did to the headlights... looks like the car is squinting...
Other than that... I like the sound, and looking at some parts of the vid, seems to go pretty well.

Piss poor may have been heavy handed. I don't think they put much effort in them. Weren't the regular GTs around 300hp? Their v6 was low 200's? This being during the Camaros absence.

Simply wow! Way to take the muscle car to the edge and make it cool while doing so!

That is what competition is good. At that time, 300hp is good enough. Camaro came out after a long hibernation and reignited the pony car war we are benefiting from now.

It's good to see that they are there and testing... What the ZL1 did was awesome and Ford knows it... I have now doubt Ford will turn some impressive numbers also. It's always better to go second when you know what the competition has already done. Time will tell if they actually post something...

Exactly. I wish i could say is was because of the 6.1 SRT8 vehicles since they were faster than the 3v GT's and right on par with the current ss but i know mopar wasnt the reason the 5.0 was developed. Dodge wasnt stealing sales from the mustang, but the camaro did and this is why we're all getting these badass cars.

However, some have stated that a Nurburgring lap time is a useful indication of how a vehicle will perform under the types of conditions that they could encounter during real world, non-track driving conditions, and that the Nurburgring is an excellent venue to judge a vehicle's overall performance capability, since a vehicle must have a well balanced overall performance package to do well at the Nurburgring. If a vehicle posts a good Nurburgring time, many believe that is an indication that the car is a well balanced high performance vehicle.

I know that many like to focus on 0-60 MPH and quarter mile times and trap speeds, stating that most ZL1s will be driven on the street or the strip where all that matters is straight line performance, and that almost no one will take their ZL1 to the Nurburgring, but the ZL1, although it has Launch Control, was designed to be much more than a vehicle that spends most of its time making straight line runs, and one doesn't have to drive one's ZL1 on the Nurburgring to make use of the characteristics of the ZL1 that make it perform well at the Nurburging.

It's not the 1960s anymore when most muscle cars were judged primarily on their straight line performance. Some may be stuck in the past, focused mainly on a vehicle's straight line performance, but today a high performance vehicle needs to perform well at many different venues and under many different circumstances, including providing seamless, comfortable everyday transportation.
Figure of speech anyone?

This has nothing to do with 1/4 mile times or whatever, it has to do with really understanding what you can or cannot conclude based on a lap time for any car in question.

Unless they were done on the same day by the same driver, you have.... guidelines

I agree with the Camaro guys on this one. The 2013 GT500 has to prove that it can handle all high performance driving activities well. The ZL1 has put down a 7:41 ring time and been put up against some super cars and real handling tracks, and done amazingly for a 4100 lb sports coup muscle car.

Ford needs to be very clear about it's best nurburgring times and aggressive about back to back racing against the ZL1. Caroll Shelby's soul is in limbo, and if this GT500 doesn't amaze the world, I'm afraid he going to cook for an eternity. Erik

Just a question. Why do we have Mustang threads on this site at all?
Its a CAMARO site, not a Mustang site. I totally understand the flaming and rightly so.
If this were PERFORMANCE CARS OF ALLMAKES.com then fine, but most of the Mustang threads are put on here just to start fights by Ford guys.
I don't see why you would expect anything else truthfully. Its got nothing to do with being an adult.
