...did you go to the same gas station today...
and see your new friend?
Funny you should mention that....

I did and I asked the ladies who work there, what the deal was with the statement they were giving the officer yesterday...

(no, I did not ask if the cop was single....)

They said that she was there to take a description of the stolen car... which at the gas station a few minutes before I was... How unlikely is that?????

I agree.
I found it VERY easy to stay rational with a gun in my face. Surprisingly, its not difficult to obey officer commands when in that situation. I didn't speak, move or even blink - LOL !!! [Ok, I'm sure I puckered my seat but he couldn't see that movement]

Never was pissed about it (more like scared). I was the dumbass that squealed my tires in front of an officer that happened to be looking for a blue Camaro at the time. I did not seen him, but can only assume that he thought that I had "made" him and punched it to run from him.

And thankfully, I too was not cited for my idiocy. Don't think he cared about that really. He was after a drug bust, not a traffic law citation.

Wow, crazy story! Could have gone a lot worse, glad it did not get out of control.

Don't know why but this came to mind when reading it

I have been told by police officers not to dig around in my car when I'm pulled over. You should keep both hands on the wheel as the officer approaches the vehicle. If its dark outside, you hold both hands out the window as they approach. When the officer asks for DL and registration, you tell them where you keep it and reach very slowly. This officer may have still pulled you out of the vehicle since you were a "suspect" though.

Yup. Took the head in and he put a heli-coil in it. He said he had a time getting the plug threads cut out but finaly got it. And a head gasket AND the head work only cost me 60 dollars. So I think I'm cool.

You don't need a friend at the station to get a copy of her dash cam. You can file through their Freedom of Information Act. All agencies have one or something similar.

All that is needed to detain you is Reasonable Suspicion and you matching the description gives them that.

But, to search your car a higher degree(Probable Cause) is needed. They could gather this from Plain View(seeing a gun, stolen items etc. or smelling marijuana).

It's all fun in retrospect but I am sure it wasn't funny when you were sitting in the back of the patrol car. And, it could definitely have turned out much worse.

I have had worse encounters one of which was being pulled over by the Border Patrol without any reason and detained for 42 minutes. And I was no where near the border they are supposed to protect. I was traveling on I10 which runs East/West from Florida all the way to California.
