Credible source claims 2013 GT500 does 1/4 mile in 11.50 sec

From their site: "Please take into account that the SHELBY 0 to 60 times and Quarter mile data listed on this car performance page is gathered from numerous credible sources."

Until they list something a little more substantial it is hard to claim to be creditable. Those numbers would be about right for a Nissan GTR but a little quicker than I would expect from the Mustang.

just a small observation....

Why is it that the comparisons are a stock Chevrolet production car as compared to a Mustang that Ford sends to Shelby of America in Las Vegas to have it upgraded to be comparable to the Camaro?

errr, worng, the GT500 is not even touched by Shelby, it is a full factory Mustang built on the mustang assembly line.

Then explain to me why the back parking lot at the speedway is full of brand new Mustangs?
And why the listings above say SHELBY?

1 Shelby does modify their own Mustangs, for examply the GT350 and Supersnake, it is called the Shelby GT500, bu it is only a name, that is all that comes from Shelby.

I'm a credible source and I say it will go at least 8.79 bone stock.

(Or maybe a bit slower)

The Shelby GT500 is a product of Ford's Special Vehicle Team or SVT, and is built at the Ford plant. Ford paid Carroll Shelby for his name to be on the GT500...I believe this contract ends next year.

If you want your Shelby GT500 to become a "SuperSnake", you buy a Shelby GT500 from Ford, and send it over to Shelby American (SA) in Las Vegas along with $30k and SA will turn it into a SuperSnake.

Also, regular Mustangs (not GT500) may go to SA first before heading to Ford dealers for slight Shelby minor touches (decals and badges, CAI, suspension, etc), same thing that happens to Mustang bearing Roush's name.

Bottom line for those who keep saying the Shelby American builds the Shelby GT500 for Ford, you are 100% incorrect. You are welcome.

The new Shelby GT500 will be beast right out of the box. It finally gets a Launch Control that apparently works very very well.

Nope, the deal was renewed through 2020.

It should be. My prediction: 11:6x @ 128MPH one hundred percent factory stock on the Goodyears it comes with.

We shall see, but 11.5 sec doesn't sound unreasonable.
