Will do!
Went on my 3rd solo cross country today. KAUO-KSCD-KMGM-KAUO Ended up being a little over 2 hours short on my solo cross country requirements so I have to go on another one in the morning just to build the hours. While the plane was being re-fueled, I got to see some F-16s take off and do some nearly 90 degree bank turns departing the pattern...it was so awesome.

Retired 3 1/2 years ago and have been doing this since. I was gonna do the airline thing and had interviews set up with Southwest, hired by United pending face to face interview....decided that lifestyle was not for me. the airlines arent what they used to be! Even the majors. Got lots of buddys doing it and they hate it.

Bull, you should look into corporate. With the right company it's great. I average 400 hours a year, Most weeks I only work 2 or 3 days. The summers are very slow, last summer I worked 3 days in 6 weeks. The passengers are great, I fly with the same 10 pilots and do not have to make a new friend every time I step into a ****pit. And best of all, I don't have to take my belt and shoes off eveytime I go to work!

Thanks, yea one of the reservists here at Sheppard is a corporate guy. I am pretty happy with what Im doing, basically the same thing i have done my whole career but without the paperwork, additional duties and constant deployments being the world's police force. I teach brand new young NATO fighter pilots, with good attitudes, how to be fighter pilots, and when not doing that i get paid to go to the gym! No checkrides, no flight physicals etc, etc. Also, the simulators are in a nice 70deg humidity controlled environment. Only thing the sims dont have that i really miss is the G forces. The fidelity of these sims are amazing, at 3 million a piece i would hope so! Dont have to sweat out on the flight line in summer or freeze during the winter. Doesnt get any better that that. I have never had so much free time for hobbies!!!

I am sorry you had to spend time out at Cannon (my current assignment). You've probably trained a few of my buddies out at Sheppard! Small world and an even smaller Air Force.

There's something special about being pulled around by a giant fan. It just adds great character.

Greatest thread ever
! Thanks for sharing the pics. and info. guys! The only thing love much more than cars is airplanes. There is not a single day that goes by that I don't regret going into the health field instead of flying professionally in one way shape or form. I grew up obsessed with airplanes and wanting to fly my entire life. When I started flight training (I was almost done with single engine land private pilot license and only needed one more solo cross country to compete the requirement before taking the checkride. I haven't flown for 4 years now. I kept going to college and specifically the health field because I new I enjoyed it, and I good at it, as well as providing myself with a back up career shall the flying career not work out for some reason (ie loosing my medical, industry changes/layoffs, etc). I had many friends in the aviation industry and they kept telling me, almost begging me to go to school and only get into flying if it was something I absolutely loved. They explained the changes in the industry and how it is cyclical without a doubt, but it's worth it if you love it. I watched so many people drop out of the aviation business (specifically flying), and went on to other careers. However, I was and still am the person that almost feels I need to do it to feel fulfilled in life. It's something that I know I'd like to say I did and tried, and if it worked out great than that's perfect and icing on the cake. If not, at least I did everything I could to make it in that business. Luckily, I would be going into the industry with eyes wide open and not blinded like some going into the industry that think about only shiny jets and pushing buttons. Right now, I'm finishing my masters degree and thinking of the future. I'm not getting any younger, and I need to decide soon on which route to go. To be honest, just to come close to being able to afford the training, I'd like have to sell my Camaro and other things. This quote is my favorite and it's more valid than ever in my eyes, "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." Any advice from you professional pilots? |

I actually enjoyed Cannon AFB. Nice small town community with alot of high school football and youth football pride. My boy started his football career there in 6th grade. he now plays division I college ball at the AF Academy. He is #45 and plays linebacker. Is the "shifty fifty" still screwing up the town? Looks like Cannon is now a big special ops base now. Yea, i have probable taught a number of guys you know now at Cannon.

The Tucson Camaro club along with the Tucson Corvette and Mustang clubs were invited to show our cars on the flight line at Davis-Monthan for the airshow today. It rained till about 0900 then the skies slowly opened into a nice day. Got some good pics of our cars and enjoyed the airshow that was anchored by the Thunderbirds.
Theres nothing better than nice Camaro's with awesome planes.

Great airplane you are flying there. Only doing bench flying now through you all. Very long story but medically retired since Nov.( A book could be wrote on it) Should have passed 20k hours this year and just turned 50. :( It is going to be a struggle to get a 3rd class cert to fly anything let alone my special issuance 1st class back. Sux but still alive and kicking and that is the main thing![]() Heres another thread I started awhile back. Imho some great videos and pictures. Thanks again Safe flying. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197982
