I think I've read they plan to price it around the ZR1 and GT-R, so $100,000.

That is a big spread, GTR sarts at 85k, ZR1 at 111k, 98-100k would basically split the difference though.

Your statement holds true, however for 2013, the GT-R is now starting at $96K and if you want the black edition that will set you back $106K

I don't really think people who are looking at the Viper will be swayed by a few thousand dollar difference to go with a Nissan, generally speaking. There are always exceptions and the people that want the most "go" for their dollar, however. I think the majority folks that buy the Viper are true Viper/Mopar fans.

it screams fake vampire teeth you find at the halloween shop

also if you think about it the purpose of those gills is to distort at high speeds allowing more air into the engine and creating more downforce so if you shorten the length of them by having two vertical things instead of one in the center they won't bend as much and will be less effective. One could even speculate that doing such a thing that makes it look "better" at the cost of performance could be categorized as a "rice." Do ya'll enjoy ricing out dodge vipers?

I understand where you are coming from, but to go as far as calling it rice? I dunno. If that is the case your dog looks pretty riced out too...

Never saw a thing about the purpose of the vertical element to the grill in any of the press releases, articles, or video's I've seen about the new Viper. Perhaps you saw something that I missed. I thought the air intake is was in the centre of the hood, seeing as there is an airbox directly below it feeding a pair of intakes. The grill feeds air into the radiator. But even if you are right about the purpose of that little vertical bit ... nothing says that my idea couldn't have been engineered to behave the same way as what they've got. Yes, it would be more involved than just having two pieces instead of one. Sadly, I couldn't run a CFD analysis or a wind tunnel test on a 2013 Viper to see what effect my changes would have on the performance. Please forgive my modest means. Since you know for certain that it will hurt performance though, please show me your results indicating such. Otherwise, lets just admit that neither one of us have a clue as to what the impact would be on an actual car and think about it from a 100% pure aesthetic perspective, shall we?

BTW, I never saw it referred to as a 'Dodge' Viper in any of those. Its an SRT now, for all that it matters.

And lastly ... I wouldn't call style elements that hurt performance rice. Things that look like they should have helped, when they actually do nothing ... thats rice. And arguably, putting 'blingy' items on a car just to jazz it up could be considered rice too. Like LEDs, or giant screens mounted in the dash, or even dress up pieces like a chrome gas cap -all these things are pretty common on ricers, aren't they? And since they're already on the Viper, does that mean that SRT 'riced it out'? I don't think so, perhaps you do. Thats you're own prerogative I guess.

Honestly though ... I think you are taking my copy & paste job in MS paint a tad to seriously. You probably took longer to write that reply than I took to make the picture, and I know I've spent far more time replying to you than that. If you don't like it, thats fine. I'm not even 100% sure that I like it myself, thats why I asked for opinions.

I'm not 100% that's what they are there for, and it's not the vertical bit it's the horizontal bit that distorts. Considering they had a link to ferrari in developing the car and the newest ferrari is the 458 has gills that look like they are made of the same material and I know do what I described, I just put 2+2 together.

There is no need to get all defensive and up in arms. That said, I don't care for your edit of the front grille and stand by what I said; I think you took my comments a little too seriously. I understand internet distorts intent, but my comment about it being "rice" was merely a jab at all the rice calling that goes around this forum, not at you specifically even though I understand why you think it was directed at you.
