If you want more hp, you can always beef it up yourself. They are giving you a solid platform to start from.

Walmart blows everyone is sales too but you that doesn't mean you are getting better product from them.

Of course they would have. Ford designed a new engine for the 2005 Mustangs, it had 40 more HP than the 2004s and was alot better engine in terms of modding as well. And Chevy wasn't even making Camaros back then.

If it wasnt for the 2005+ Mustangs, you wouldn't have Camaros or Challengers. Strong Mustang sales showed GM and Dodge there was a huge market for muscle cars.

I think Chevy is doing a good thing addressing suspension & handling as they increase power. The cars have so much power, even in the base models, that to do otherwise would be irresponsible. I love the fact that these cars have 400-650 horsepower, and I also like that I don't have to baby the throttle to keep from flying off the road.

maybe they don't want the Z28 to be the super rare more expensive car.
IMO the SS should be the Z28 anyway.

All this "track" performance focus also translates to better handling on the road. Something that 99.5% of Camaro drivers participate in.

There is a drag specific Camaro coming out. It's called COPO... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208193

If that's your cup of tea, buy the COPO. You have to realize that GM is JUST getting into the swing of things with the Camaro. First you had only coupes, then convertibles, then the ZL1, then the 1LE and COPO Camaros were announced. I don't think anybody can argue that GM is not trying to impress with all these options.

Sure I wish that the Camaro would win hands down from the factory versus the comparable Mustangs in all cases. But with all the recent news, I don't think GM is going to let Ford keep any performance lead for long. There are some awesome cars coming out. There is a race going on and GM is off to a running start.

Chevrolet isn't going to build a car that can't go around corners in the year 2012.
'hey i want 15 inch wheels and .75g of cornering power dammit!"

My favorite feature of my C5 over my 4th gen is the ability to turn.

It handles more like a corvette than a pickup truck. Sure, my 4th was fast in a straight line (well it FELT fast..) but trying to do anything on the mildly curvy roads here in ATL was not fun.

honestly.. I don't see a problem.

I'm a big time GM fan.. why? Because when GM "makes a new engine" it's not a specific engine for a specific car thats entirely proprietary and entirely different from it's predecessors. Because GM finds something that works.. and they do it over and over again making small changes as necessary as time goes on.

I traded from an LS1 to an LQ4 to an L99 and I can be "in the loop" on the technical side of all 3 without missing much of a beat.

Other than the bailouts, I have NO complaints.

Domestics have a reputation though.. when I told a friend I bought a new camaro (he owns a base model mazda 3) he said "lol, I like cars that corner thanks."

He has no idea.

Flipping? What do you have to do to one of these to flip it? Even stock they seem to hug the road.

Christ did you even read my post, it meant I prefer today's american cars as opposed to the 60's-90's and most of the 00's. I don't care how fast a car goes in a straight line if it flips when I try to corner at a high speed the car is a piece of shit...

The point was supportive of the ZL1, GT500, SS, GT etc. that can actually safely go around a track without killing the driver....
