GM announced yesterday that they were replacing the Impala in NASCAR with a new nameplate. Before then, the only logical choices for the new "stock car" was the 2013 Malibu or 2014 Impala.

What GM also announced was that the new NASCAR "stock car" would coincide with the launch of a new addition to the Chevrolet lineup.

Holden's been working on the VF Commodore and it seems as though it may launch early next year, right in line with the start of the NASCAR season.

So the rumor is that the Commodore is set to return to the US market.
