Egads, this is the kind of stuff this thread wasn't supposed to degenerate into.
Look, it's this simple: Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Power is evil. Knowledge is power. Therefore, dumbasses are the only good people.

Let's leave left, right, socialist, etc. comments out of this. It won't do any good and will only further a hot topic. No more warnings. Let's keep this thread healthy and not force it to be closed, please.

I'm sorry, but I can't argue this point any longer...because it's a lost cause. The gov't hasn't even agreed to take the stock option, yet -- but we have more than a couple folks screaming bloody murder. There is no proof to substantiate the MYTH that the government is taking over GM. In fact, there's multiple entities trying to set the record straight by issuing statements to the contrary. Unfortunately, not everyone listens. And so we're back to the beginning of this paragraph -- I can't debate against people who WANT to believe in the apocaliptic prophecies being tossed about.

"Instead, Mr. Obama will effectively use taxpayers as that investor, with the federal government getting slightly more than a 55 percent stake in the company in exchange for forgiving $10 billion in the automaker’s outstanding federal loans. The United Automobile Workers’ retiree trust would have just under 40 percent of the stock, under the G.M. plan." So are you saying that your NYTIMES article is full of myths and is screaming bloody murder? Good Lord step away from the Kool-Aide man ... I BEG YOU!

Hey, at least I know when to stay away from a topic.
![]() I've read it all and have an opinion but like Dragoneye said. It's not going to change anything from the beggining of the thread to now. I'm right. that's all you need to know.

I guess we'll know soon enough. I have some strong opinions on the subject- but I'm trying to compartmentalize them and channel my inner Spock. I've called my representatives and expressed myself (I actually did a long time ago- I wanted a plan put out before any bailout money was given. I was pretty much kicked in the nards for that opinion on these boards).
So now I might as well grab a Margarita (Happy Cinco de Mayo!) and kick my feet up until I see the results of the burgeoning Cluster Frack. With luck, this will all turn out all right. A lot of luck. Either way, I guess my next real say in the matter will arrive on November 9th 2010 for the mid-cycle election. In the meantime- I own both a Dodge and a Chevy and I enjoy driving them both and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new one of either if I were in the market. Hell, I can get parts for a 1965 MG- I guarantee I can keep my Dodge going til 2015. |
