Not sure why having this type muffler makes him a dickhead? Annoying for sure, but a dickhead?

This morning I saw a guy in an older civic pulling out of the exit for mcdonald's, and he was probably going less than 1mph, and I'm like, wtf is this guy doing? and then as the back end came out of the driveway, I hear this huge scraaaaaapppppe, and I see the 6 inch can when he drives off and my buddy and I started cracking up.
It's a different car culture that we'll never understand I guess. |

because (9.9 times out of 10) he thinks it makes his car sound fast and cool, and typically if you talk to them after getting out of a car that is clearly faster they are usually d***heads and trying to prove to you that their car is faster because the have a 84 in exhaust tip, 3 spinner hubcaps, a "carbon fiber" hood (AKA: black painted hood), a foot high wing on his FWD car, etc.

All of them? No
A disproportionate number of male Civic owners that are less than 30 years old ... maybe. I don't talk to enough of them to be sure, but there are too many that regard the fast and the furious movies as a documentary.

If you want to take pride in your car that's fine. Everyone should love what they are driving. The point is that they believe through some sheer fantasy or stupidity that these "modifications" give their cars outstanding performance. This notion is ridiculous. It is not necessarily their view on cars that annoys me, but the misinformation that surrounds it. There is a reason you don't see these people at the track. When you do, they make probably three passes and then go home. Oh, and anybody who really cares about horsepower per liter is a ricer. I don't care if you drive a .3L car or a 20.5L car. If you are making big power, thats cool with me. |

My pickup gets me to my destination a whole lot faster than any cut-spring exhaust-dragging wing-toting ricer. I can accelerate as fast, cruise faster (because cops will pull the ricer first), and roll right over anything that's in my way (like speed bumps and parking lot exits). Quote:

They really think that bolting a park bench onto their trunk lid or a coffee can on their exhaust makes their car faster...those guys are as annoying as the ones who do it knowing it won't make their car faster. I can't decide which bothers me more, the ignorance or the vanity.Quote:
This guy wanted to race me in my econobox hatchback: I let him fly off from the light while I accelerated gently. This one...well, it speaks for itself: This one too: I posted this one on another forum and a user there reported seeing this car actually racing. I wonder how much faster his car would be with an appropriate exhaust and that silly wing gone?

the wing is stock and there is a good chance he would fall into the tuner category not ricer (if it is a STI as the wing suggests)

If I had that car I'd yank that wing off and gain a couple MPH top speed (and a couple MPG on the highway). Is that silly muffler stock too?
