That is pretty bad, the engine would fall out of a 90s Taurus before the emblem would degrade. Of course it only took 4 years for said engine to fall out. :p

This is not Tahoe specific. Take a walk through a mall parking lot and look at bowties.
I've seen plenty of really bad looking bowties on newer vehicles.

That being said, the Ford emblem on my dad's 2009 F-250 is peeling and falling apart and I think it's hilarious.

I know it's on Suburbans, Silverados, etc. but I know they've improved with the new bowties like we have on the Camaro.

Come to think of it, my brother's HHR SS did this too, but we blacked them out. Problem solved

My Silverado and about 99% of them around here that are more than 3 or 4 years old all look like that. It's a piss poor design by GM which allows moisture in from the backside. Tons of trucks with vinyl stickers on their bowties because of this very reason. I haven't paid attention to see if other models do the same thing though but the gold ones really stand out. If my Camaro does this, I will take it to the dealer and get GM to pay for it. And yes the one for my 2005 Silverado was $58 so your 04 would be the same.
