I've been looking at some pretty amazing replicas today.....not sure if I can do it though just knowing it's fake.

plus the lack of re-sale value, like diamond rings, they cost a butt load to buy but turn right around and try and sell it back that same day and youll get maybe 1/3 of what you just paid, maybe.

Not all of them have that problem. Some of the big names like Rolex, Omega, Blancpain, Breitling, don't depreciate like that, in fact I know a guy who keeps his Rolex's mint and trades up every couple of years for a VERY minimum cash outlay.

The problem is in the medium range that are just about affordable by normal people, like lower end Omegas, Tag Heuer, Movado, etc that unfortunately pretty much tank in value. That said, all those will last you forever and are infinitely serviceable, so as long as you don't beat the shit out of them, you also never really have to replace them (If you're, you know, interested in its intended basic function of.... wait for it...... telling time).

In 2001 I paid $3,000 for a new Rolex GMT Master 2--It was 3,500 before discount. I could Easily get $4,000+ for it today. List on the new ones is 7 grand+.
I didn't buy it as an investment though, I just wanted it.

I agree...I just like watches. I've yet to spend any big money...I just buy what looks good to me.

Photo I took of my new Pathfinder 1500. There is a PAW2000 out now so I picked up this former model for a good price. Atomic, solar powered, all the ABC features. Works in the field or on the range.
