cars w/fake badges

Screw badges, you want posing? At a local burger joint last night two 05' Mustangs pulled up. One was sporting a Boss embossed side stripe, the other with Saleen windshield decals and fender badges. The one thing they had in common, other than being Mustangs? Both were V6 models. These two even went so far as to say their cars were faster than my buddys "heavy" LS2 SAP GTO.

Anyone ever see "reverse badging" anymore? Where you would get a BOSS 302 or SRT392 and make it appear as if it's a V6. I was told stories of people doing stuff like that back in the muscle car era, making a hemi car look like a 340, debadging an SS, and etc.

My favorite was a 76 Pontiac Grand Prix that looked like a grocery getter. However, I had a bored out 455 in her with all the internals. I had fun surprising a lot of people.

Oh, and by the way, "we don't need no stinking badges".

I had a Camaro that was an IROC clone (I did not do it, I bought this way) it was just a 88 T top coupe but had all the stuff the IROC had from the front fascia with the fog lamps the 'louvered' hood the 3 horizontal stripe tailights that the later 89 to 91 cars all got. the only thing it did not have was the IROC gauge cluster with the speedo with the higher top end speed on it and under the hood it had a 305 with TBI and rear drum brakes. but it was cool looking and a FUN cruiser, god I miss that car :(.

It is usually the ones with less that want to be critical. I once had some girl walking down the street comment about my charger rt while i was waiting for my daughter to come out of school. Said theyre crap and the only real chargers were the old ones. I said "yeah, but i' m not the one walking, am i bitch?"

Driving down the road today, and this caused me to do a double take, a black pontiac G6 sedan, with the word "GTO" in large white letters across the top of the windsheild. WTF???

Not 20 minutes later I'm sitting at the light and this large broad (350ish) yells out "I love your Honda!". I wish I was a quicker thinker, I would have yelled back in my best Elvis voice "Lady, this thing eats Hondas like you eat hoagies!".
