My point was simple, doing something once is relatively easy. Repeating something over and over with a similar result is truly hard. That was all. I'm not saying that the ZL1 did not run a 7:41 nor that it was not capable of doing it again (if not an even better time). I'm not sure how my post came off as questioning the validity of the time. Like you said, the time is well documented and is not in question. |

Now I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but has this "red" key issue ever been fixed? I believe that effected the Boss 302, right? I don't follow alot of Ford goings on, but could you see something like a "red" key for the GT500?

That's funny, you proclaim not to follow Ford information but you cite a very specific topic related to a very specific Ford model. What exactly was the issue you were referencing?

The "pink" key I guess it's called now, is what I was referring to.

I think the issue he was referencing was CARB denied Ford's red key. The red (track) key that comes with the Boss 302 can access a more agressive performance "tune" if the buyer pays the $300 for dealer to load the "tune" that works with the red key only. However, this apparently makes the Boss a non-emissions car and CARB say NO NO!

I could see that, particularly as a way of maintaining the motor's longevity. Maybe you have a 581hp 'street' key and a 650hp "track" key.

California established the California Air Resources Board (C.A.R.B) in 1967 to regulate air pollution, and is the only state in the nation that established such an agency before the U.S. Clean Air Act was enacted in late 1970 to regulate air pollution on a national basis, and, therefore, California is the only state that is allowed to have an agency that regulates air pollution. Other states are allowed to use federal air pollution standards, or they may use C.A.R.B. standards, but they may not set their own air pollution standards. Currently, there are approximately sixteen other states that have adopted California's C.A.R.B. emissions standards.
