Shocked that there isn't more mention of the '13 Challanger around here?

Apparently the 2013 Challenger SRT8 & Charger SRT8 will have an optional Supercharger, from the factory, that will bring the Challenger up to 570HP and the Charger up to a respectable 540HP.

I found it interesting that Dodge has finally wised up and realized that the SRT8 models were just not cutting considering thier performance numbers were compairable to SS and GT 5.0 numbers! I originally remember hearing that Dodge's intention was to make the Challenger a short run (lived) car, 1 body cycle, to try and just catch some cash on the retro muscle/pony car revival. But, considering Chrysler has invested so much time and R&D the past couple of years on the Challenger I think it may stay awhile, god willing Chrysler stays afloat as expected!

There was a lot of chatter about it back in July when the articles came out. There has not been any new info since then and many believe it to be untrue for right now. We will see, it would be interesting, but boy imagine the price!

yeah, that price would be insane. and the way chrysler is about supporting the performance enthusiasts, i'll believe it when i see it. they've pretty much left it up to the mopar enthusiast to tweak the car the way it should have come from the plant.

Actually the New SRT8 is quicker than the SS and 5.0 with the quickest running 12.2s STOCK so far. Their performance is right smack between the 5.0/SS and the price is much closer to a loaded 2SS or GT (which have to be basically loaded to match base SRT8 equipment levels) than the GT500/ZL1. the Supercharger option will put the SRT8 in a comparable performance level with the GT500 and ZL1, but al;so in the same pricing realm. I don't believe the SRT was suppoosed to be just a model thing, but just had a much lower sales target athan other LX cars and the Camaro and Mustang (something like 25000-30000 compared to 50000-100000 for the others.

It would have a high price, but considering you have to add 10k to the base SRT8 price to match the ZL1, it wouldn't be unreasonable comparitively.

yeah, guess that sounds about right. still though...the fact that they locked down their computers on the 2011+ cars from tuning shows they are not thinking about the enthusiast crowd.

Would that be a Dodge Barracuda or a Chrysler Barracuda?

Ehhhh, I dont know about that. I guess it will be based off of some Alfa cars platformm "The 8C Alfa Romeo". But it will be RWD. And NO it wont be based off of that Dart platform LOL. The Dodge rep spilled the beans a few days ago when talking about the new Dart. He screwed up and said......." OHHH yeah, the Barracuda will be coming out in 2014"........We were like "HUH???" OOOOps. He said they didnt know if they were going to continue with the Challenger (pause the production) or do a refresh on it. The Barracuda will be a "Mustang sized" 2 door RWD car. Didnt know what engines will be offered in it. Knowing Chrysler, I will believe it when I see it.

I agree about the tuning, but being devils advocate, I can see their point of view too and not wanting to cover warranty claims over a botched tune, though I think the owner should have the choice between tuning/modding and a warranty.
