BMW puts up an M3 in response to the A4. Yeah, the M3 spanks the lower A4 models in all respects, but it is still at the end of the day a 3 series (on steroids), which is a competing model to the A4. Putting up something like the R8 would say to me, "Look at us! We have this top of the line model for 2x as much as your M3 that destroys it!"

Instead they should put up an RS4 or 5 to show they have faith their top of the line A4/5 model is just as good if not better than the M3.

That being said I think most people driving don't even recognize that its an M3 in the BMW ad. They probably just think its a 3 series.

Unless this is just a case of "who's dick is bigger", in which case, the R8 is fine.
