I just saw the weight specs revealed for the Subaru version ... 2689 lbs. The Toyota has to be within a few pounds. This is going to be a dog down low and in the midrange. Get the revs up it shouldn't be too bad, but still not terribly impressive. But I guess if its supposed to compete against cars like the RX8 it should do well enough.

the 0-62-mph time is estimated at a modest 7.0 seconds. But the key facets of a 2,822-pound curb weight, rear-wheel drive, ESP that can be fully turned off, quick steering and a limited-slip differential make it a riot in the twisty stuff. The tires are also a critical part of its makeup, although they look a bit wimpy. They're the same size as the Prius's optional rubber (215/45R17) and offer equally tepid grip, all the better for lurid slide if the mood takes you.

Even the Genesis coupe dwarfs this car! I've been reading about the "Toyobaru" for a while and say I find it very interesting!

This was mentioned at the press release about the backseat:

"During the presentation yesterday, they told us that engineers attended grassroots drift and grip track days across the country in an attempt to understand what true enthusiasts and purists want. This is why the car is a four seater, you can carry four people when using it as a daily driver, but when you need to hit the track you can fold the rear seats flat so that the trunk can swallow up four spare wheels/tires, a jack and a few other bits of equipment.

The head designer of the Subaru (who seems like Subaru did most of the design) said you can get a full set of race wheels/tires and all tools in the trunk with the seat down.

The subaru is going to start at $24,000 and go on sale in may. Sign me up.

Hmm. This FT-86 is too small. I've driven a Gen Coupe and you really don't want anything smaller than that.... Is a 6' 2" guy even going to fit in this Toyota/Subie? This picture makes it look otherwise.
