yeah, right now I can make it (haven't done it, but in theory)...... I can go 3 weeks on a tank of gas pretty easily if I only drive to work . The SS really would probably get about the same MPG in town.... driving a 426+hp car in that traffic is just a lot of work though....

why buy a LS1 when you can buy a LSX376 for about the same? on a 70's datsun, no emissions checks, so you could run carbs and put out some massive torque.

Not really, I drove mine to work every day at my last job for a year. The power is pretty controllable unless you really get on the throttle. What about an L99? I got the feeling you want a stick, but it looks like the taps are a lot better than when I got mine.
