Penn State scandal...... changing by the week.....

So not cool to pile on JoePa........

Maybe a more balanced topic will be accepted.

Sandusky has spoken in an interview, it's now come out that McQueary DID actually stop the assault AND at some point talked to the police though it doesn't say when. Obviously he did, but years later.

So if this is true, then McQueary is not such a bad guy. (I was glad to hear)

I guess Sanduskys lawyer found the kid (now a young man) and supposedly the kid denies it all. But the prosecition isn't buying it. To see the lawyer speak I'm not either.

I wonder what the legal ramifications are if the kid is too embarrased to admit it?

Sanduskys lawyer also said that he expects some of the other boys to recant. AND, obviously, that none of it's true.

One things for sure, SOMEBODY has got deep problems. My money is on Sandusky.

I don't understand why we, as a society, allow sports figures to get away with so much... Why do we idolize the athletes and their coaches so much that they get a pass on illegal behavior???

I was driving near State College today, saw multiple cars with "WE ARE...JOE PA" written in white shoe polish (or that car marker stuff) on back windows

I live very close to this entire mess. I'm getting tired of it already. I'm waiting for the facts to unfold. I know from working in State College that there are a lot of very wealthy people connected to other people of power ,and I can see the big money up there trying their best to make this mess go away. It looks like that they might have already tried by getting rid of the lawyer that was investing this. To me anybody that knew this was going on and did nothing about it is just as guilty as the pervert that did the deed. Hang them all.

Hey PQ, I wanted to post this in your thread yesterday but the mod closed it.
Hating? Yes. Speaking of Pgh. area. Pitt/PSU old rivalry. Some people are actually taking delight in the "downing" of Joe, since this has ruined his image. I have always backed Pitt, WVU & PSU. Anyway, Joe can't make anyone tell anybody anything. Let's just say Joe calls the police. He tells them his second hand story. The police investigate McQueary and Sandusky. McQueary states he saw something happen or he clams up. Sandusky denies everything. Then what? The identity of this victim is still unknown to authorities. Legally what do you have to stand on, hear say? Now defamation of character charges against you. The AD, Curley, stated McQueary told him that it was only "horsing around in the shower". So it's not far fetched that McQueary could have decanted his story. Now prior to this 2002 incident, in 1998, a District Attorney, Gricar who was investigating Sandusky, disappeared. So, the authorities already knew about Sandusky's behavior over 13 years ago.

As you can tell, some of my info I provided has already changed by today. Some people are quick to judge and immediately witch hunt. I'm glad to hear more facts come out. Granted, we'll probably never know the whole story. You should hear how the tone of host's of the local sports radio shows has changed. More level headed. Instead of just spouting off, they now seem to be thinking before they speak. It's not even been a week since the story broke and I'm worn out. It's just a horrible mess. Sandusky's interview, sickening.

What everybody is conveniently "skipping over" in the whole Joepa issue is that he DID contact the Police - Schultz is the head of the University Police department - Joe called Curly and Schultz the next day and informed them of what Mike had seen - they in turn met with Mike McQuery...while I agree that Joe could have done more - maybe he confronted Sandusky, maybe he didn't...we have not heard the facts from Joe yet. What I did see is a trial and a conviction of Joepa by the media - and THAT is why so many people are riled up about this.

Sandusky is a sick man - the interview he gave proved that. He doesn't think he did anything wrong? Just horsing around? Um...what? I am glad that the Media has now turned it's focus towards the guilty party.

Did you all see that McQuery stated to his friends that he DID stop the "horsing around" in the shower? He stated that he DID call the police and reported it. He stated that the Grand Jury got his testimony wrong...wonder if they did so on purpose! Interesting to see if the police release the report that Mike says he made.

Sorry, but if the guy waited any more than a couple of hours to call the police, he does not meet my standard of an ethical human being. I don't care how close of friends you are, you see someone RAPING a little kid, you beat the snot out of them and call the cops to get his ass thrown in jail, immediately.

Its was nice to see people still trying to cover up for Sandusky, first his Penn State buddies covered his butt with a free pass, now local judges are giving him a free pass.

What they don't get is that makes it worse, just like fast n furious or other law enforcement cover up. The one group that should stand up and tell the truth, covers for their own making it 100 times worse in the public eye when caught.

Stuff like this gives rise to vigilantism.

The local judge is a chair at the Second Mile foundation! She needs to be removed.

Well there is a local and a national difference then. In all my life I've never ever once heard even one single person say anything but good about Joe Paterno. But Joe needed to be fired over this. NOT convicted or villainized. But the firing was justifiable. People disagree on what level of responsibility Joe had. I know I'd never send my son to play for JoePa after this. If he believes his job stops on the football field and not in the coaches shower then I have a problem with that. Again, I see a man who preached Honor, Integrity, and Character. And claimed to personify all of that. A guy who, when told he was going to be let go, told the school "No, I don't think I'm gonna let you fire me today. I'll go when I'm good and ready to go". Like Wyatt Earp in Tombstone. There are those who think it's possible this was somehow brought out now for the express purpose of firing Joe. I don't believe that. I have way too much faith in people than that. Masses anyway. There are enough good people out there to stop it.

Oh, and that DA disappeared in 2005. Investigating subsequent behavior of Sandusky.

Maybe. I doubt police were called. University police are a joke. They work for the University. Mabye it's just me but I wouldnt' stop until that jackass was in jail or McQueary was. His testimony was vivid, and accurate. If he lied or misinterpereted himself to the grand jury then he'll be going to jail. If he changes his story, Sandusky will walk. Time will tell. But the lawyers are already wondering wtf McQueary is talking about.

If you read the indictment, the grand jury got it just fine. And if McQueary lied or left out obvious items then he'll answer for that.

What a crazy mess.

I wish this whole thing would have never happened. College football needed Penn State and Michigan to get back to prominance. Michigan is about there but this is gonna kill PSU. :(

I think McQueary was hoping this would get out.

Associated Press:

The following is an email from Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary. It was made available by a friend, who did not want to be identified.
... you are the first person I have told this ... and I don't know you extremely well ... and I have been told bye officials to not say anything ...
I did stop it, not physically ... but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room ... I did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police .... no one can imagine my thoughts or wants to be in my shoes for those 30-45 seconds ... trust me.
Do with this what you want ... but I am getting hammered for handling this the right way ... or what I thought at the time was right ... I had to make tough impacting quick decisions.
This is off record ... again ... I have not and will not say anything to anyone else.
