Smile Newby and importing!

Hello!

My name's Gabrielle and I'm a chick from New Zealand who's really into especially late model Camaros

I don't currently own one myself but an starting the very tedious process of importing a late model SS (unsure of what year quite yet) into the country to be kept as a LHD vehicle.

Before I start the application process in New Zealand I'll be heading over to California, Nevada, Arazona and Oregon from late Dec to early Feb where I'll be researching more into the vehicles and fingered crossed, get to maybe test drive one (the cars are very rare in New Zealand due to the effort to bring them in). If there's any Camaro meets/get togethers especially around San Francisco where I'll be spending most of my time over there I'd LOVE to know and come check them out

A lot of what I'll be interested in on the forums is how others got through importing their cars and definitely what cars are for sale as I'll be seriously looking later 2012. I'll also be needed to prove a few things about the car to apply to bring it in, such as:

"-The vehicle (or its make, model and submodel) is identified as being a collector's item in a commercially produced motoring publication"

If anyone can help me out with that would be amazing, I'm not quite sure if there is an article that is better than another that could improve my chances, of how I could find any for that matter x.x

Thank you so much and I'm really excited to be here

Welcome to Camaro5! That sounds like a challenge to import but will surly be worth the effort. As for your visit to the states, let us know what part of Arizona as we can provide some free hotel rooms at the Best Western if interested.

For the article they want you to provide, a press release from GM for the Chevrolet Camaro SS should suffice. Here is the online catalog for a 2011 Camaro which should be ample publication: http://www.chevrolet.com/assets/en/p...res/Camaro.pdf
Quick Facts: http://www.chevrolet.com/assets/pdf/...evy_Camaro.pdf

Keep us updated on your efforts!

welcome to camaro5. I feel that it'd be safe to say that the camaro qualifies as a collector's item.

Gabrielle, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, boyfriends and or husbands here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Hi Gabrielle,

I visited your beautiful country in 2006 for the Southern Man Harley Tour, loved the roads there, especially on the South Island. I could see driving a Camaro there, but then you have some great Holden Utes there that are essentially the same Camaro running gear. I'm in Southern California, so if you decide to venture here, let me know and we can get the local Camaro5 So Cal Family together for a meet and take you for a cruise with the group. Good luck with the importing stuff. Later, Dannie

PS. Bring some Speight's with you, we can't get it here...
