I started out in middle school as right guard, then got my "lucky break" 7th grade as our coach initiated a new 4-3 defensive lineup and I got moved to linebacker. and I was bumped to center cus I could one arm snap a perfect spiral 15 yards without looking. that continued on to high school where I (at 165lbs freshman) was put in as a backup for "Big Art" our main linebacker (who was 6'3" 230lbs) I was one of only 3 people in that decade that was suited up as a freshman for a varsity game. I got pissed when the coaches decided I wouldnt start a single game till my senior year... only because in my area of southern IL, it wasn't just freshman and varsity football, JV had its own class as well. so I accepted it and played JV for 3 years and varsity for 4. 3rd in the state for solo tackles and 6th for assists my senior year.

My defensive coach would always give me shit cus I would run with the "fat guys" aka linemen during sprints (which made me look like the shiznit), so I had to start running with both groups.

but he would always make jokes that "we aren't fat tuba players out here"
to which I would inform him that I did indeed play tuba

then he would make the comment that "sometimes you gotta play dirty... this isnt the boy scouts"
to which I would inform him that I am an Eagle Scout

then he would make the comment that "this isnt rocket science"
to which I would inform him that after high school, I was going to college for aerospace engineering...

oh yeah. I always laugh at the guys who do nothing but lift weights to bulk up with no cardio.

lol, nice.

in middle school, they seperated the fast kids with the fat kids. and that's how all the schools would play each other. fast vs fast and fat vs fat. well, i was kind of borderline, but probably should have been with the fat kids, but they put me at center on the fast side. every play was a dive down the middle. lmao

ps, i call them fat because at that age, you don't have muscle. lol

I did a couple experiments about two years ago to see how much water weight I lost when I went running out here in AZ. In the summer with the outdoor temperature around 90 I would average 3 to 5 pounds of water loss. In the winter with it being usually around 40 it might be only 1 pound, maybe 2 over the same distance. No real point to all this, although it would explain the summer dehydration symptoms I've gotten a couple times.

I drink a couple bottles of water every day. usually one in the morning, one in the afternoon and another before bed.

most of my recent weight gain is due to the fact that I'm eating consistent meals now... where as the previous 6 months-2 years it was a case of me working either morning shift 730-230 and I'd get home around 3pm, wife would be getting home around 4 so I would hold off on lunch (couldnt leave my post at work) and would end up waiting till around 530 and see if the wife was hungry... "no, not right now"

couple hours later.... she says "I think I'm just going to have a bowl of cereal and go to bed"

no real "food" in the house, just a handful of tv dinners and pop tarts...

and to me, it wasn't worth the gas (and potential damage to the car/truck) to drive and get fast food then drive back home. so I'd snack lightly and continue the process....

smoking helped...some lol

and before anyone gives me shit about smoking (and yes, I'm on my way to quitting, have gone from a pack a day down to maybe 3 or 4 in just a couple months)... I have a little story of how smoking can save a life

I was in Iraq and a friend of mine and I had just eaten lunch and were going outside to smoke, but didnt want to stand around nearly 100 other people smoking, so we walked towards our trailer to the smoke pit nearby.

when we got there, we realized that neither of us had a lighter, so I walked up to a guy and asked him if he had one. he did and decided he would join us in a smoke...

during which time we were attacked with mortars and we dove to the ground waiting out the attack. one of the last explosions was really... REALLY close. after the all clear sounded, we got up and started walking with the guy, as we round the corner of the protective barriers we all stopped in amazement...

his trailer/living quarters was blown to smithereens.

had we not stopped him for a lighter and he not stopped to smoke, he would have been in his room during the attack.

so whenever people tell me that smoking will kill me, I just chuckle.

and usually comment that I drive way too fast to worry about lung cancer

All four of my grand parents smoked and all them lived to at least 70, one is still with us. They all used to smoke cigars or pipes which, I'm told are far worse than smoking cigarettes. None of the three that died, did from anything that was related to smoking. Still not the healthiest thing to do but when you stop to consider how many people are morbidly obese smoking seems kinda minor to me.
