Its flu season, get your shot

Its flu season, get your shot

I even saw the free flu shot here today sign pickin up my pills last week, thought for a sec then ignored it.

fri-sat headache was the starting of it. Haven’t felt like eatin much since then.

Constant hot n cold flashes, waking up just soaked in sweat where I must towl off and change clothes.

Feel like im about to catch fire one sec, froze in ice the next.

cold n flu stuff works for like 20mins

Worst part is I keep feeling like Im about to shake it, but have no energy.

Why I didn't call doc today, felt like it was going away, just called emergency doc on call cause im cookin in my skin and confirmed the flu bugs are going around.

but its not full on flu, like a naggin flu, just enough to keep ya from doing much but not sick as a dog flu I member.

Never had a flu shot, and have only had the flu once in my entire life.

Flu shots have variable results. You have to remember that there are many, many flu viruses, and the shot is only going to work against a very few of them (and perhaps only a single variant). Each year they attempt to "take a decent guess" at the flu that will be the most dominant and create the vaccine to work against that particular one.

It's (probably) not going to hurt you to get one, but simply washing your hands well is a far superior method of keeping yourself healthy.

CDC page for ohio said they pick it for the 3 strains they think will be worse this season.

haven't had contact with anyone but GF [im a hermit] since it started.

but she works in a busy hotel n guess she picked it up, and it got me first as I had just gotten over food poisoning the week before, so maybe my system was weaker. Though she is now starting to feel bad and blames me

Id say first sign is not feeling like eating and then it creeps up on ya.

Its a real creeper, feel ok for a few hrs then on the ropes again with hot n cold flashes.

I could deal with everything just fine if I could just eat more and get ride of my gut full of knots. down to knock off boost nutrition shakes, yogurt [with extra good bugs] n glasses of milk.

I know how many feel and did too, but in recent times Im been dependant on modern medcian to get me back in shape and I would of taken that flu shot to have more then a week or so of feeling almost normal.

Id pop, shoot, snort, shove anything they got if I could just get 30days of feeling normal again. Been down to long with one thing on top of the other.

The flu may be going around in your area, but it's not "flu season" yet.... The vaccine that's currently available is from last season, and in all likelihood, wouldn't have helped you now, because the strains of flu virus change....
That said, lots of fluids, rest, meds to help with aches and fever... get well soon!

I haven't caught the flu in 20 something years and I've never had a flu shot. I've seen some minor research that suggest that the shot might actually even give you the flu in rare cases.

FALSE. The virus in the vaccine isn't live. The vaccine can cause other problems, rarely, though.... Being in healthcare, and exposed to so many sick people every day, it's worth it to me to get the vaccine when flu season rolls around (usually November to February or March...)

Actually sometimes it is and they inject you with it, so says the story at least.

There are a few live virus vaccines out there, but they are not the flu vaccine.... Only measles, mumps, rubella, polio, and varicella vaccines use live viruses...

That's the legend, that someone effed up a batch and put a live strain in. Not saying that's true especially since I can't track down a documented case, but it is a pretty pervasive urban myth.
