Ahhhhhhh - now I know exactly what you're referring to! I had a ganglion cyst on my thumb, right on the joint. There was also a bone spur. I had to have them surgically removed because it was causing significant pain. The procedure itself was a piece of cake. Recovery, not so much. Try not moving your right thumb at all for 2 weeks, when you're right handed.... More than a year later, it still hurts periodically. Don't let anyone smash your hand with a Bible. That's barbaric...

Mine grew from nothing to 3/8" tall in two days and was quite painful. But it was at the root joint of my index finger. Doc said they mostly happen on the wrist.....

I've had one for years on my wrist... WHACKED it on a table back in the day, now it comes back a little occasionally, a little pressure and it's gone.
