what exactly are you going to do with this car?
if you need a backseat, then the Challenger is your car... its HUGE inside... and the backseat is actually functional... if you have a child, this car gives you the best of both world and, with some suspension work, might actually be able to handle some curves... its still new enough to have a high exclusivity on the streets, so there will be plenty of heads turning when you drive up anywhere. if you want the backseat, but you dont really need it, the GT500 is the choice for you... its got a rear seat that is great for storing stuff in, its got 500 tire liquifying horsepower, it is very unique on the street and its got the cool factor of having a Shelby badge on it. if having a backseat doesnt factor into your decision at all, the Vette is the way to go... 30mpg, world class handling, great seats, faster than the other two by a long shot and styling that guarantees its going to be a looker on the street... yes, every neighborhood in America has 3 of them in it... but when you're the only guy at Sonic in your Corvette, you're going to have everyone's attention... and that's always fun.

GT500s are harder to come across than Corvettes, and a much better bargain than an SRT-8. Go with the Cobra.

If I didn't need a back seat .. Vette hands down .... Since I do, I'd go for the GT500 ... already built engine from the factory and ready for some big power ..

You can get a 2008 Vette for just under $40k now....new and NOT pre-owned. I found a few 1LT's already and nearly pulled the trigger.

To the OP, i would go along with the others who have asked what you intend to do with the car. I don't think you can make a bad decision with any of the cars you listed. |

GT500, Then Corvette because they both have good resale.
Oh, the GT500 also because we must blame Dodge for the Recession.

Corvette, because i don't need the backseats, i have always loved and wanted a Corvette (isn't that the "american" dream?)! And it easily is the best looking car and gets the best MPG's (hey, gas will go up again.)

If I had to choose between just those three though, as much as I hate to say it, GT500 unless you get talk them down on the price of the Corvette. The price of that used Corvette is too high considering the prices of new 2008 Corvettes right now. While Ford's quality and reliability isn't all that great, it's a lot better then Chrysler's which means less time in the repair shop and more time having fun. |

Vette without a doubt. granted the GT500 has more power, it's still a mustang. A good looking a very powerful one, but a mustang none the less. Last choise would be the Challenger.

Secondly, having owned a number of different Ford, GM and Chrysler products in my time, I would say, in terms of quality and reliabilty for cars built since 2000, that they would rank 1)Ford, 2)GM and 3)Chrysler. If you have owned and driven cars from each brand and use that experience as a guide (and not what you have read and/or heard from somewhere else) I am okay with whatever opinion you post on the matter. I would hope so, seeing as a 2008 Corvette would already be two model years old. What would you have to gain by buying a "new" 2008 versus a 'pre-owned" 2008 other than a few miles on the odometer. Both are going to have the same resale value within a thousand dollars or so. QUOTE] How is it two model years old? It's March of 09. The 2010's are at least 5-6 months away still. As a certified vehicle, you actually have more warranty coverage on that than you do a new one. Go figure... |
