Why were they fighting? Possibly over a toy or chewie, possibly a dog outside the fence got them excited and they took it out on each other? Or, he wouldn't quit bugging her and she took him to task. Will he go there again? He's male. Most likely. If it becomes a regular thing, I'd rehome one or the other. Some dogs just do better as "only dogs".
The dog on top pic looks to be part boxer. Is that the male? They are a more high energy dog than a pit, and they have poor social skills with other dogs quite often.
Shock collars? No wonder they're frustrated! Are those bark collars, UG fence collars or some sort of training collars? Sounds like you need to find a good trainer who uses positive reinforcement training to teach you and your girl how to be better pet parents so you can lose the shock collars.
Dog training isn't always about the dog, it's about the signals we send when dealing with them. Learn how to understand the dog, you'll have a happier relationship all the way around.
If she goes to a hospital, they will require the dog to go into quarantine and it will not go well for the dog because it's a "bully" breed. Clean those wounds well!

Manny....the best advice you your going to get, is that that is above ^. As Hers stated. My ex-wife is also a dog trainer, been doing for nearly 35 years now....actually she more like a people trainer....when you take you dog to a trainer to teach them to behave....YOU go with them, and the trainer teaches YOU how to train your dog. Th is way the dog knows, or will learn to know whos in charge. This way he/she will learn that when he/she is given a command, they will listen. This way, after the LESSONS are done, if YOU pay attention, you can continue to train your dog and all will be happy at home.

Thanks for posting this, Own 4 pits to date with kids and have had this breed for 30+ yrs with cats,birds,chickens and horses and havn't had any problems ever. My neighboors dogs (not pit) have chased people,killed goats, cats and runamuck tearing up trash and so on...some people shouldn't breed and than some shouldn't own dogs. Just look at the owners additude and you can tell what there dogs and kids are like. Fences make neighboors better to live with

I think the biggest thing we learned is that the dog gets nothing for free. If he's getting a treat he earns it by following a command. If he wants to play ball he earns it...I will make him sit and wait until I release him to go. This is how they learn that we are in charge...it's a long process but it's been fun for me. I am definitely the doggie disciplinarian...just like I was for the kids...hubby is too soft. They need boundaries...if I'm out with him he can only get so far adn I do a recall...call him back...why because I said so... he gets rewarded....maybe next time he can go further but he knows if I call he comes back... There are some good books and online info too but a hands on trainer to help learn dog signals and signs was great for us.

Soooo true... kids and animals are only as good as the time we the "parents" are willing to spend with them and on them. Raising good "kids" furry or otherwise is a commitment of time.

I am less concerned about a dangerous "breed" than a dangerous owner...one who puts their head in the sand and refuses to accept the reality and responsibility that come with owning a pet. All animals have different tendencies and behaviors...take care of that pet with that in mind. It gets sobering to watch the news and see all these owners swearing up and down what an angel their pet was and they just don't understand why it mauled the 4 year old across the street to death...

It worked and I dont have to shock them anymore, the beeping is just as effective as the shock. Its my fault the dogs got into a fight? Or are you mad that I use a shock collar? I had a problem that needed to be corrected immidiately because they would knock people around, and it worked. We all arent dog trainers and the first reaction to correct a small but immidiate problem isnt to go hire a dog trainer.

You are correct, but a pit is a viscious breed. They are so powerful for their size, they are hard to stop. Beautiful dogs, love them....but I hear people getting hurt more from that breed than any other.
