Yep , I agree. The laws are the laws. LEO's do not make them they just enforce them.......................... Sorry but I am not buying the whole "cops target camaro's".........I know I wouldn't

But yet cops "target" Camaro's It amazes me that when someone breaks the law and then gets pulled for it........They were "targeted"..Not trying to offend anyone just sayin'
If this was directed at me, how do you explain my wife has NEVER been stopped in the 8 years she has been driving her Yukon Denali? My daughter has been driving for 4 years with no front plate and has never been pulled over.

I have been pulled over 3 times since I got my Camaro out of storage in April. Wife and daughter drive their vehicles every day, as compared to my Camaro which isn't my primary vehicle.

There is no question in my mind that cops are targeting sports cars, maybe not just the Camaro but sports cars in general. If not, how do you explain the facts?

Not directed at anyone.................... Maybe it is happening in some places by a very small number of officers , but to stereotype cops and say they are targeting the camaro is a bit of a stretch. I was referring to more of the replies when people get pulled for doing something wrong , yet try and blame the officer for pulling them........... Just an opinion though ........no facts to back it up here

My wife borrowed my Camaro tonight to hang out with one of her friends. Hopefully no police involved!

Must be your area, sorry about that, sure doesn't happen around these parts.

We have had the car for almost a year and dozens of cops have given me thumbs up,, It just goes to show there is always one pr**k out there to ruin everything.
The law is the law. If your state law requires a front plate, and you decide to ignore that law, and eventually you, or your wife get stopped and ticketed for violating that law, is anyone involved really a prick?
The Police officer is not the prick. He or She is just doing his or her job properly. They are enforcing the law that states the owner of the car must display a front tag/plate. So, in this case, who would be the Prick? The person following the laws, or the person that believes they are abouve the laws that all others must follow?

For the record, you have to have a front plate in TX as well.

Ohio i supposed to have a house bill on whether to stop requiring front plates. Im not sure if its already went through or when it does go but hopefully it will be passed. It will supposedly save the state like 1.6M a year.

I understand what you are saying, I really do.....but can I throw a scenario at you? Just for a moment, imagine you are a Police Officer....(no you can't let everybody go). In your patrol zone, or beat, you see a Honda civic (not the young punk, fast & furious kind), a Toyota Camry, an SUV, a Volkswagon Beetle, a Camaro, and a Jeep Liberty.......Now, without using your bias towards the Camaro, which one are you going to keep your eye on for speeding, or no front plate etc.? Yes, as in every profession, there are apt to be a few officers in every dept. who may abuse their authority, but it is a minority I assure you. we should all come to grips with the fact that our cars are "high profile"! I have a 2001 S-10 Xtreme. It has a 4.3 liter engine in it. With it's light weight, that little truck flies. I tend to go a lot faster in that truck without thinking about it. In my Camaro, I tend to go closer to the speed limit and look everywhere, simply because I realize I have a "high profile" vehicle or a target if you will. I'm sorry your wife got pulled over for that, and she may have very well got that small minority of officers that pulled her over.

My 69 year old mother has a 2011 BMW 335I. She lives in California where front plates are required. She knows it's the law, but she herself decided she was going to drive without one until the day came she got cited. Almost one year later and if finally happened!!! So, she is now going to mount it!

I hope it all works out for you and I hope that if you do decide to put the front plate on, you go with one of those flip up ones!!!

I don't know about "all others"...especially here in Texas.
Unlike most people, I've actually taken the time to count cars without front plates...and I've done it several times.
In my area, it's always a consistent 16% regardless of time or place. I always count at least 30 cars without plates and it keeps coming up 16%. That's huge!!!
I can't see enforcement of front plate laws as anything more than arbitrary and capricious. The state troopers are way more anal about it than the city police, but any way you look at it, it seems pretty ridiculous. Cherry picking people for enforcement is just wrong.
EDIT: No I don't have a front plate and no I've never been stopped for it.

Don't worry he will be here soon enough. I'm just gonna let him fire away on this one. Don't really see the need to waste my breath on the BASHIN' in this thread. I'm sure Brantley will though.
It sounds like I need to hand out a bunch of Kleenex for all this cryin' goin' on about being illegal and getting pulled over for it
Either make it legal or ride "dirty"-- get pulled over, take your ticket, and press on. Start making calls to your State Reps if you want the laws changed.

Note: the one Camaro I pulled over here for a tag violation (we only require a rear one) he had the tag covered with a smoked tinted cover so you almost couldn't read it. Just for the record; he got a warning

Just thought I'd point this out. It seems as though there are a lot of "he was just doing his job" knee-jerk responses from people that apparently don't actually read what's posted. If this is true (and I'm going to assume it is), then the officer was not "just doing his job".

Fact is, in many places Camaros, Musrangs, Corvettes, pretty much anything "sporty" looking is going to get more attention. Hell, I had a local cop flag at me to slow down the other day when I was going more than 5 mph under the posted limit. My guess is that he just assumed I was going too fast. He didn't pull me over and I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out that it happens.
