We cite for traffic violations thats all, the insurance companies assess who is at fault and to what degree. If you were in the business you would be surprised even in the most obvious cases degrees of liability are spread out to each party.
I'm guessing you've never had a "bad day" at the plant? unless you have been in our shoes hold your judgements about our actions until you do. Just sayin'. Sorry if she wasn't all peaches and cream. To be honest I hate handling accidents with a passion except when it involves a drunk driver I guess-- (could have hit someone I love.) Everyones cars are wrecked and then by policy I have to issue a citation if someone committed a traffic violation-- I know it sux but its the job.
Very well put! I hate takin collision reports as well..And issuing citations. I would rather take real crooks to jail, but it is what it is..

At Mardi Gras my son reached under the parade fence and the cop started yelling at Bonnie. I was across the street holding our daughter who was a baby at the time. I came across the street just in time to hear Bonnie appologize and try to explain that he was just reaching for a moonpie. He told her to "Shut up". I lost it. I told him I'd handle it and to mind his own F***ing business. (sure, I let him piss me off and I gave him a reason to be a bully but I'd like to see the guy with the restraint requred at that moment not to go off) He took ME away in the van. Wrote ME a ticket for 'Crossing a Parade Barricade'. I was able to show the judge, with witnesses that I was across the street. The officer was verbaly reprimanded by the judge and my case was decided "Not guilty due to resonable doubt". A ruling that showed me the judge was protecting the department.

So, yes, it is very rare. But it does happen.
LOL. I was waiting for a case law quote to come out on that 1. WOW

I have been known to come off my "square" during NASCAR weekends here at Dover. 200,000 to 300,000 drunks (during racings prime)rampaging the city for a weekend and by the end of Saturday night I am bound to tell someone off with a slur of bad words. These people however would be drunk a-holes that are totally out of control not some young woman and her child. Patience will run thin when you get tired of dealing with mass crowds. So, not to condone the actions, but its a tiny bit more understandable how or why it happened. On race weekends I would much rather be part of the problem than part of the solution
And I kinda understood. The biggest problem I had though was that he didn't take his frustration out on a drunk, disorderly, or whatever, but he decided to yell at one of the only people NOT drinking. Me and both the kids had never been to a Mardi Gras parade. My son wanted a moonpie that had been thrown. He didn't catch it (he was only 4) and so he tried to get it. I wasn't exactly professional either after he yelled at Bonnie. I was a TOTAL dick. I embarrased him in front of everyone and the whole damn parade stopped and it took the 'assistance' of other officers to get me to comply. I was PISSED. But I did get the last word. Only took 4 months.

Cops have bad days just like all the rest of us. IMO most have extreme patience to deal with all the crap and lack of respect they see all the time. So be nice, be respectfull.
Agreed.

BUT. If they have one of those bad days, then I'll respond accordingly. I'm ALWAYS polite and respectful to LEOs. Until they are not to me. Even when I can tell they are in a bad mood, or are just not nice in general, as long as they just deal with me respectfuly and professionaly, I go tno problem. VERY, VERY, VERY few of them are just plain A-Holes all the time. Yet I suspect ALL of them have their bad days. Most can just supress the bad days and just come off as no personalities. Which is a win imo.

I can't remember which month it was. Might have been 1999 instead of 98. But I've hated everything Mardi Gras ever since.

NOT ME DID IT!!!

Nah, PQ. I got where you are coming from its easy for us to Monday morning QB it now and say OH, well you should have gotten his name and filed a complaint. Its the moment and split second reactions. Know all about it. Everyday we have to make'em and then some group of staff officers gets months to analyze it and tell us we did this or that wrong----yeah ok thanks. --off the soapbox again. The officer was messin' with the 2 most important things in your life. Not too hard to come off your "square" when that happens especially when the conduct was not appropriate. BUT DAMN the WHOLE PARADE!!!
One of the fellas said it this morning "The three things that will get you in the most trouble in this job your mouth, your driving, and your reports (or lack of doing one)

Yup. The officer was in his patrol car in the parade. So the parade had no choice but to stop when he got out to 'collect' me. Riding in the back of the 'paddy wagon', I was in there with 4 guys who were SHNOKERED drunk. And talking about how they wanted to shoot cops, I was wondering what the charges would be against me. I asked him repeatedly what the charges of my arrest were. He never told me. BUT, he also never told me I was under, or being arrested. So after a while, the stopped and let me out with a written ticket. Thank God for the crowd. I was going around to give that guy another piece of my mind when the crowd grabbed me and pulled me away. I thought I was about to get my ass beat but a few of the people that grabbed me said it ain't worth it. They had seen it before and they knew I was gonna LOSE that fight.

Bonnie will tell you, I was worried for a while that he would retaliate somhow. He had my address and the judge embarassed him in court. And I was brand new to Alabama.

Especially with how many officers there were out there for crowd control. Yeah, probably not the best odds for ya Plus, losing isn't really an option for us--don't flame me its just the way it has to be.

I think after that appearance in front of the judge, he may have thought about it for a brief second, but if a defense attorney ever got wind of what happened--- he wouldn't want that to be brought up again. OH officer so you have a personal vendetta against my client because the judge embarrased you ..... so on and so forth. Yeah, its time to let that one go.

The parade comes to a halt and they are hauling you away. UGH I'm sure Bonnie was either like this or more like
