If I'm correct, the only exterior parts shared between Caprice and Commodore are the front doors.

I liked my G8GT and my G8GXP and some days I miss the nice roomy back seats and large trunk they had.
CTS-V is nice and all, but a little cramped in the back. |

I really wish they'd bring back the G8 as well. I can't convince my pregnant wife that we should buy a camaro... she doesn't want the hassle of a carseat in a 2 door. She likes the G8 but that means we have to buy used. I'm seriously surprised GM hasn't at least thrown out a concept of a rebadged Commodore to compete with the Charger RT/ SRT.
The new Impala reminds me of the chevy lumina for some reason... not very appealing |

I'll never understand why GM kept Buick and axed Pontiac.
The G8 was a monster along with the GTO....the G6 one of their most popular most sold models ever. Are they going to bring back a 2 door version of the Malibu/G6? Shoulda kept Pontiac and merged Buick's lineup into Cadillac and Chevy. But what's my opinion worth. |

Quote:
The G8 was a great car sold under a craptastic marketing effort and introduced at the worst possible time. The G6 was an unprofitable fleet queen. The G5 and G3 were jokes. The Torrent was pathetic, and the Vibe was a rebadged Toyota. Meanwhile, you have Buick selling like hotcakes in China with sales for new launch products quickly picking up here in the states. In fact, Buick was the fastest growing automotive brand in the US for 2010, and they've already outsold Lexus once or twice this year. Plus, Buick's average transaction prices are higher than anything Pontiac could've ever dreamed of. The choice was simple. Keep the brand that sells hundreds of thousands of unprofitable fleet cars and rebadges, or keep the brand that actually generates profit and gives GM a major platform for expansion overseas. Pontiac was dead the minute the phrase "new GM" was first uttered.

The G8 while dead under the Pontiac logo, still lives in the Middle East as a Chevy Lumina....and it will most likely return to the US as a Caprice/Lumina here...
http://webnewcars.com/chevrolet-lumina-ss.jsp The 09 G8 GXP was an absolute beast, and I loved them, just couldn't afford it at that time....otherwise I'd probably have one instead of the Camaro...

I love my G8 Gt also, plenty of room for friends and it gets as many looks as the Camaro it is a classy ride. Maybe GM will let it return to the USA.
