as to the dry heat thing....hey i've heard of people in chicago dropping dead when it's 95-100 , because of the humidity. i never hear of people dying here. you don't sweat much when it's low humidity.
so yeah, it's not pleasant, but 80% humidity is a lot different than 10%.
