but you also have to take into account the steamroller sized tires the z06 comes with. those things are incredibly wide and provide much more surface area than the lil 5.0....did we forget to mention the 2.0 liter displacement advantage AND weight advantage?

The z06 is an incredible car, a bargain by some peoples standards. The boss even more so iMO
Not to split hairs, but a 1lz with z07 option is 85k. Not taking anything away from the Boss. The very fact that that a car $38k less is mentioned in the same breath as a z06 is a huge credit to the job Ford did. I just want to point out that the boss, all things being equal, is not going to beat the Z06 stock for stock or mod for mod.

i beg to differ the 5.0L has been proven to go step by step with any GM engine.

all things being equal? you mean if the Mustang was allowed to have 400lbs of weight reduction and stroked out to 7 liters and 335's in the back?

how are you gonna say its not gonna beat it when it already did? Im not saying the z06 is slow at all but the performance of the standard boss 302 backs up that this wasnt a fluke. these cars apparently shine on the road course!!

if theyre racing from a roll on the freeway i would give the edge to the z06 no doubt. Road course? its gonna be close. extremely close.

Or one being a turn key track car and the other... not so much.

The prices become closer when you realize a Z07 equipped Z can be bought for 10k off msrp and who here thinks they will pick up a Boss for MSRP???
The Boss is still a very impressive car. This being a Camaro site, how come everyone is comparing the Boss to the Z06 anyway???

we're just comparing the Boss to all the other cars. The Z06 comes up more because more people are familiar with it and because it was the previous benchmark in affordable performance.

the regular Boss (non-LS) beat the z06 also. the boss is proving you dont have to spend big Z06 type money to hang with the big boys!

The boss does exactly what you would expect it to do. It will be very interesting to see if/when GM comes out with the Z/28 if they will be able to get it to do the same thing and how they set it up as I am sure the car will be a bit heavier than the boss.

What I would like to see for do is have the BOSS engine and suspension available as options for the GT .

The boss is an amazing machine! i would also like to see a Z28 and a Challenger R/T. Strip em down, lightweight wheels, give the SS The Grand Sports hand built dry sump LS3, lowered and upgraded suspension, racing splitter up front, adjustable spoiler in the back, a set of Recaro seats, get reid of the back seats and VIOLA! Z28. For the Challenger, strip out all the lux options, put in the SRT seats, power controls replaced with manual controls, give it an all alumium 6.4 Hemi, carbon fiber origional TA hood, adjustable spoilers/splitters, lower i, give it a even better suspension, and VIOLA, Challenger TA. Then finally find somebody with deep enough pockets to fund the racing series and there we go!

Ford was able to keep all the creature comforts and still break records. Why not just keep them on the Camaro and Challanger because roll up windows and striped down cars suck in 2011. I agree with everything else though.
