Nothing offered above 3.55 for the Auto, and the 3.55 would be similar to 4.10s in a manual transmission. Just informational post since the 3.06 by itself can be somewhat misleading.
Yes and no. The open diff is the weakest link. I was looking into the 3.73 pumpkin swap for our auto since a 3.55 doesn't exist. 3.55 is the ideal gear IMO.

I Love the 392 Challengers. I would LOVE a Moulan Rouge car or Envy Green.

When the Challenger and Charger came out on the old Mercedes platform (E-class) I told my dad that stuff was going to start breaking really really soon. Check out this month's Hot Rod magazine...ugly. (I am waiting for Hot Rod to run the Camaro breakage segment - they break too, I know)

i didnt think the breakage section for the LX was that bad at all. most of the stuff listed was at 550+RWHP level.

running 3.73's in the auto is like a manual running:

4.51 in 1st
3.89 in 2nd
3.60 in 3rd
3.73 in 4th

and 6.19 gears in OD!

but ignoring OD 3.73's is like 3.93's but that first gear is very short

Still overpriced by about $9,000. Sorry but who would chose this over a ZL1 or a Gt500?

Yes, the 3.55 with the Auto is aggressive and still makes for good street car. You probably already know, but with the Nag1 aggressive gearing and 3.73s, you may be driving on the highway at ~3K Rpms in 5th gear with that setup.

Someone who prefers NA power over a supercharger? Someone who likes Challengers? Someone who is loyal to Mopar? Someone who wants more creature comforts over raw power?

And being overpriced by $9,000? That would make it a 35,000 dollar car.

And to answer your question, I would get this car over a ZL1 or a GT500.

wouldnt it be easier to use the v10?

anyways i expect a car like that at $60,000 for sheez.
A Vipers V10 is a 20,000 dollar engine.

A 426 Hemi Challenger would be right about 46,000 or so.

Here's the news snippet about the new 426

It's also the perfect opportunity for the automakers and their parts divisions to roll out some serious hardware, in preparation for next year's racing season. In 2010, Chrysler is pulling out all the stops – it's Motor Parts division (yes, that's what MOPAR really stands for), is releasing an all new 426 cubic inch Hemi V8, based on the Generation III series architecture.

This motor sports an aluminum block and heads, comes with a complete oil pan and intake manifold assembly and will retail for $13,675, when production begins later this month. Considering it cranks out a whopping 540-hp and 530 ft-lbs of torque, plus what original factory iron-block 426s go for, that's a considerable bargain.

Hardly, as a base SRT8 is equal to a loaded SS which isn't nowhere near a 9k difference (judging from my local dealer, more like a 3k difference) and is more powerful and has features standard the Camaro does not even offer (pushbutton start, proximity entry, 30 gig HD radio just to name a few). Yes, if ou want a base stripper, the SRT isn't for you, but if you want features and luxury, it's SRT all the way.As for the GT500 and ZL1, you are comparing 50k cars to a 42k car, so it kinda shows you are making a slightly hipocritical point.

Well, the autos are also running the higher mph, 12.4@114 and 12.6@112.1 from inside line.
