These days are very hard to get a job specially without a skill and an education which coming out of HS you have neither. Before I say what I am going to say I'll say this, without a college degree or a skill it is still possible to get a good job and to be successful Im not saying that it's not possible. With that said these days you have to go to college or go to school and get a trade card to be a plumber, electrician, etc. I dont know if you ever heard of it but somebody that goes to college makes on average of a million bucks more than somebody that didnt go. If you do the math, for somebody that works say 30 years they will make 33 grand more a year than somebody that doesnt. Now school isnt for everybody. You can always not do any schooling at all and try to work your way up the ladder of whatever field you want to do. I assuming right out of HS your only going to find stuff that pays 10-12 an hour which if your living with parents might not be to bad, but you are an adult now and after some time probably should leave and does getting out hs and buying a new car make sense NO. Maybe someday with 10-15 years of experience you can be up at 20 bucks an hour which Ill be frank isn't that much money. Schooling is the key, these days if you do not have a degree you can pretty much count your self out of a lot of jobs. It's hard out there. If your content with toping out at 20-25 and hour and bouncing from job to job that's fine but just think about all of it and I always say when you make a decision how will this affect me 5 years from now.
Another option is the military I was in the army but I went in as an Officer so its a different route. But you go in and get a job skill dont get talked into doing something like Infantry or tanks etc. Do something in communication, HR, finance, supply. Ive seen plenty of soldiers that held jobs like these get out after 4 years and get good jobs in those fields. On top of it you can get out and go to college or any sort of trade school, trucking driving, etc for free. Personally if I had to go back I think I would have done AF or Navy. Although the Army has the most job fields and you are guarenteed that job when you sign up. The corp is a good person builder and is for the hardcore but as far job skills beyond maybe discipline and leadership I dont think they have the variety like the others. Nothing against the Corp but they are there to simply land on beached and create a beach head for the Army.

Burger King. All these people are telling you about jobs they had, but with the way the economy is today, you'd be lucky to get a job in fast food.

not true if you work hard enough and do your research there is plenty of scholarships and grants out there. The problem is to many people are lazy and want the quick gimme. School is not that bad really. You can do two years at Community college which would cost probably 3-5 grand a year than two years at big state school at 10-15 a year. You add on grants and such to that its not that bad. Look at the situation here go buy a 30 grand car or get 40-45 grand education whats the better loan to take.

So true the market isn't what it was 10-15 years ago, even 5 years ago. Alot of guys on here have some good jobs and maybe didn't have to go to school but they got those jobs 10-15-20 years ago when having an education wasn't as important. The thing is when a lot of these guys are retiring their jobs aren't get filled again and if they do get filled you can guarentee they want some sort of education. To be honest education doesn't make you better or smarter but it will get you places. And you would be better off spending your money on school than a hot rod

But back to your post. I mean your 19 years old going to be HS and living with your parents and you have the balls enough to ask them to help you buy a new car?? hey man thats something you ask when your 16. It's one thing your just trying to get a start on your life go to school and you ask them to help you get a 10 year old beater because your current car just blew up. I guess kids get everthing these days. Put in persepective im 9 years older than you and my parents werent rich and did ok. They gave me my first car which was a 1990 Cutlass worth about 1000 bucks. I had it two years before I had to give it to my brother at that point I had to buy my own stuff from there on out. To be honest with you that was kind of how everybody was. My parents never paid for my cell phone which im assuming you have some IPhone and your going to ask them to pay for i too.

Do you snowboard or ski? It isn't year around, but an instructor is probably the best job you can get at that age. I was a snowboard instructor from 16-18 and I made about $16 an hour plus tips and got free food and season passes. I didn't even work for the rest of the year because I made so much money in the winter season. Waiting tables is a good job too.

Seriously, if you can afford it, go to college. You won't regret it.

Try UPS! thats where I work pay is good at a certain level for employees! And there is always the opportunity to move into management! which is excellent pay but long hours! Once you start driving, you are like your own boss! Its a fun job believe it or not!!!!!
Or do the military thing!!! Wish I had!!!!!!!
