Eh, I have 8 cylinders in my Yamaha boat too, only split into two separate engines.

I'd rather have the V8 in my car.

Funny thing is your car has more power then the boat. Sorry but a 350 mercruiser isn't going to burn 26 gallons per mile.

26 gallons per hour! But I have a feeling if you ran the Camaro WOT for an hour, you'd burn through your whole tank

I prefer boats without engines...

I did a Transpac (L.A to Hawaii) on this:

I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel I commit my weekly crime.

I was on a real boat....two of them as a matter of fact. One called USS MIDWAY (CV-41) 1986-1988 and USS TARAWA (LHA-1) 1992-1995. Anything else is just for weekend wussies.

Great comments all. And truth be told, I did slightly exaggerate the boat's fuel consumption to match the car MPG with the boat GPH. With the 5.7LX she only sips about 21 GPH at WOT while making 55 MPH. I figure that's about 2.6 miles per gallon compared with my sweet Camaro which averages 26 miles per gallon.

A few other observations:

1. Wife finds no humor at all in B.O.A.T.=Break Out Another Thousand.
2. Big Red's main armament might be a 12-gauge flare gun, but I am her Master and Commander. She sails when I give the order.
3. Her mildly cammed V8 plays music through the wet stacks.
4. She is Coast Guard rated to carry not just the Captain and First Mate, but also eight bikini-clad passengers. Although they better be friends of the First Mate.
5. DUI laws apply, but open-container laws don't (so long as nobody drowns on my watch).
