Can you flood a fuel injected engine?
I ask because my daughters 2010 Corolla with 33,000 miles would not start. She tried a few times last night and again this morning. Then I tried it a few times also, it just spins but does not start. So she called Toyota and they sent a tow to bring the car in for service. When the tow driver got here he tried to start it and after a while he got it started, it smelled like gas, there was smoke coming from the tailpipe but it ran. He drove around the block, shut it of and started it 5 more times, no check engine or service lights came on. He said it was flooded, maybe you pushed the gas pedal when you got out of the car. So, can you flood a fuel injected engine?

Not by pushing the gas pedal with the vehicle off.

The car sat all day Sunday after it was parked Saturday night, at 11 pm Sunday it won't start. Flooded doesn't sound right.

It can flood, but usually from a problem like a sensor being out of whack. Have the dealer do a cold start with a scanner hooked up looking at things like the temp sensor. If the car thinks it's -20 and it's really 50, can easily flood it.
Most efi systems have a clear flood mode. Hold the throttle wide open while cranking and that should put it in clear flood mode. If the oil smells like gas, it was flooded. |

reminds me of when my friends audi wouldnt start. Just kept turning over so i pumped the gas while turning it over (pretty much acting as if it was my carbbed galaxie) and it started up!! maybe the MAF or something wasnt sensing any air or some weird kinda phenomena was going on. has run perfectly fine since!
