Pontiac was a true loss of a loved one.

Evo? Never owned or drove one, could cluelessly care less.

If you're a fan, it hurts. If you're not, it doesn't. The Evo wasn't in direct competition to the Camaro, so most Camaro owners don't really care. There's always exceptions, but MOST do not care.

If you were an Olds, Saturn, Hummer, or Pontiac fan, you felt the pain when those brands got cut from GM. If not, you probably didn't care.

The Mitsu fans are going to hate it. But life is going on anyway. If the aftermarket can support it, the Evos will live on a lot longer for those hard-core fans.

But the "defenders" of Evos in this thread kinda bother me in that they don't have the maturity one would expect to educate rather than instigate those they find "clueless" about the Evo.

Evo loss will have no noticable impact on my life one way or another. But I do feel empathy for those that are fans.

The Nissan 300ZX twin turbo, Toyota Supra turbo, Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4, Mazda RX7. These were cars I hated to see go. Little 4 door sedans don't float my boat regardless of how good or "important" they are. I love muscle cars.

While I normally disagree with fen's fanboyism.... He is correct here.

Hell, I couldn't tell you if we have a Mitsubishi dealer in the whole state. I certainly couldn't tell you the last time I saw 1 on the road that wasn't some 10 year old Galant.

You haad to wind them up with powerful rubberbands then pop the clutch to get them to go. An automatic just wouldnt cut it do to little or no torque. Then you had to sit back and listen to the hi rpm whine going down the hiway like all the other annoying tuner cars.

BTW, sales only tell half of the story; profits is what drives companies to supply any good.

Not enuff demand.

I have driven a top of the line EVO....it is a very quick car....a blast to drive, light and grips the road very well....the Euro version is even better...too bad they are going to focus on shitty cars that aren't as fun to drive....

Takes premium gas and gas mileage no better than a SS camaro.
Kind of makes you wonder whats the point in a little 4cyl that will burn itself out. They had reliability issues...check JD Powers.

I think Fenwick is right. Few would notice or really care. Not like there is much heritage like a Camaro or Mustang.Just a flash in the pan come and go car.

Its vindicating to me that the cars like the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger with affordable V8 performance have proven once again to more desirable than 4 banger plastic clad econo-boxes. Even V6 muscle cars are desirable these days because offer even more affordable performance than their V8 counterparts. Even Asia automakers have taken notice, anyone notice the Genesis Coupe? Seriously cars like the Evo and STI may offer performance capability but both are ugly as sin and appeal to posers from a bygone era.
Yeh, I like the fact that I can cruise down the Hiway in my v6 manual camaro in 6 gear with the RPM at a little over just 1500rpm and still have some power to pull with having to down shift.

It's the same for many evo drivers. You let me know when your camaro can do that. Sure, I have an ugly ass spoiler on the back until I can find an rs owner with a blue trunk to swap me, but it grips and stops like crazy, is damn quick in a straight line and I'm never worried about driving conditions or having enough space for people or junk. That's what the evo and sti are THE BEST for and it's sad that one of them is disappearing for good.

As far as the posers comment. . . I can absolutely guarantee you that a higher percentage of sti and evo owners do real, sanctioned racing and modifications than the percentage of camaro owners. What specifically makes an evo or sti owner a poser? Most are dedicated performance enthusiasts looking for a DD that can also be their track car.

Pretty much Go-Karts fitted with bodys. Nice a light weight and a big Turbo to spin them up. Better know how to drive a stick though. Don't there is enuff torque for an auto trans.

No great loss. Real performance cars are based on purposely designed RWD platforms, not made out of Lancers.

Not to worry for the 36 Mitsubishi fans left in the US though. I've heard the Evo's engine will live on in the Hyundai Sonota turbo (de-tuned of course to manage to meet the high quality standards of the Korean auto industry).
