<rant>

What is it with shoes today. I just wanted a pair of regular o'l gym shoes that don't look like some kind of space boots or some "look at me look at me" nutso design.

I finally found some Adidas I liked and had to order them online. WTH!?

I must be getting old.

So, the doorway to your workout room doesn't have a doorway/moulding? I have a pull up bar (for only $20 at Target) that easily mounts in the door frame like this:

It also works great for situps:

and dips:

P90X utilizes all variations of chin ups and pull ups and various hand grips: close, wide, palms facing in, palms facing out etc. The bar shown above is EXCELLENT!! I especially like the padded bar which don't hurt my "girlie" hands!! LoL!

That is pretty neat Bonnie...I haven't had the pleasure of meeting that contraption yet! LoL

Gym'ed it again today.

Switched to a new workout routine for the week. Going to work on stablizer muscles with higher reps.

This is what it got me after my workout...and then 10 minutes after the stair stepper. I ran out of time and had to get to work.

My workout room is in the garage and its in the back corner so if I put that up I wouldnt anywhere near or be able to see the TV. Hence I was trying to find another option that I could put in that section.

Today's workout was a good one. KILLED my back.

Shoulder/Back

Smith behind head military press 135/140/140 10/8/8
Incline reverse fly 20/20/20 10/10/10
HS Under chin rope pull 160/160/160 10/8/8
Dumb bell shrugs 120/120/120 15/15/15 this is the heaviest dumb bell my gym has :( I'll just try to add reps each week
Rev grip bent over smith low row 185/185/185/185 8/10/10/8
HS rev grip low row 185/185/185 10/8/8
HS Lat pull 160/160/160 8/8/6
front rack chin (pull ups) body weight 8/6/4 (back is TOAST)

35 mins elliptical on random

I like going to the gym. I don't think I'd get as good of a workout at home. Seeing the other usual suspects keeps me motivated and honest.

I go to a Gold's and it's $11 a month (paid in full for 24 months). Pretty good deal.

I may borrow these workouts.....I need to add an extra day of back and shoulders.........but using weight that works for me ofcourse lol. I like the gym too.......makes me focus only on what I need to do with no distractions!

WORKOUTS Yesterday:

(Circuit)

3x
Body Solid Squats: 3x15 reps 90 lbs.
TRX-Chest Press: 3x15
Step Ups: each leg 3x10 20 lbs.
Standing 1-Arm Shoulder Press W/ kettlebell: 3x15 20 lbs
Leg Extentions: 20,15,12 reps 3x,100 lbs.
Ball Crunches: 3x30 w/ 12 lb. ball
Tricep Bench Dip: 3x15 reps 35lbs.
Vertical leg raise: 3x15
Kettleball Calf Raise: 15,12,10 reps 35lbs.

Things are going great still! Gonna start doing more cardio, getting up early and getting it out of the way. I know its most affective before you eat so gonna step it up a bit!

^^^^ Yep cardio is best on an empty stomach if you can swing it. By empty I mean like 6-8 hours empty. I know you're aware of that Bonnie, but that's for other folks that think 2-3 hours is empty.

When the weather warms up I'll start doing 2 extra days a week (maybe 3) of cardio first thing in the mornings when I can do a fast paced walk around my neighborhood.

My shoulders do pretty good, nice and rounded but I have to really work on my back. I have a long torso so it's hard for me to make it look wide at the top.

In honor of March being National Nutrition Month, here's a reminder.

Drink plenty of plain, unflavored water every day. Minimum 6-8 cups and more with physical activity!

Nice!

I was going to Golds....did so for 6 years. They kept having machines break, AC going out, raising rates ever year...5 bucks a time. I got tired of that. Kept paying more and losing more. What for? Not worth it anymore.

We (and a crap load of other Golds members) ended up quitting and going to a new place called Triton. Each cardio machine has a tv on it. Let me tell you...watching a tv show makes you lose focus on teh workout. AND....when your hour of cardio is finally closing out and you realize you have 10 more minutes for your show, you won't get off the machine. I usually end up finishing out the show which pushes me another 10 min or so. LOVE IT.

Here's my calorie loss for today and my routines...weeks A and B...

will this fit

So I have Insanity but I am getting P90X from a friend. There is no where to hang a chin up bar in my workout room... So I was wondering what is a good alternative move I could do.

will this fit in that space

Tip of the day: Be your biggest fan! If you don't root yourself on, then no one will. Take some time each morning to look in the mirror and point out three things you like about yourself or what small results you've seen. Focusing on the positive will give you a healthier outlook on your goals.
