Casualty of (Black Ops) War

I was playing Black Ops last night, the screen froze, and the PS3 shutdown.

Now I get the Yellow light of death (LYOD). Its the original 60GB 'fat' PS3, looks like a know issue.

To cap it off, my Black Ops disk is stuck inside

Was reading online that Sony charges $300-$400 to repair...a new one will cost me $299.

Anyone else had this happen? What did you end up doing?

I don't have the PS3 but see if there is a tiny hole near the disc drive where you can stick the end of a paper clip in to release the disc drive and get your disc back. I had a computer once where the disc drive failed and thats how I had to get the disc out. guess its time for a new system

This Happened to me in April!!! I was devastated, what i did was look up on youtube. My disc wasn't coming out so I took the whole thing apart, including the blue ray player and got my disc back....PS3 was shot, so I just bought a slim lol....this doesn't help your problem but you can send it to sony and pay like $150 for a refurbished one but more than likely gonna crash on you within the year, just a chance you have to take. good luck and let us know what you do!

I also sent my old broken PS3 with the yellow light of death to a buddy for parts....There will more than likely be a few people around the area that will be able to help you fix it. not sure how but there are people out there....maybe post an ad in local newspaper or look up on craigslist. call your small appliance fixer upper guys something like that

when my phat ps3 died, I put it up on Craigslist and someone bought it for like $75.

That sucks!!! I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm running a FAT 80G that my wifey got me at the end of '07 and I'm just counting down the days :( My dad's went out about three months ago, and we got both of ours around the same time. I just did a back-up last night, lol.

I thought the repairs were like $150 or something... I don't know for sure though.

I ran out to Target last night and picked up a slim PS3 (160GB) for $299 included a $50 gift card which I used to buy MAG

Tonight, I am going to take a screwdriver to my beloved Fat PS3 and get that Black Ops disk.

Ahhhh!!!! no! You could have saved it! On youtube there are videos to fix the YLOD! All you need is a screwdriver some time and a hair dryer!
