Only kidding, Married 20 years this January and still loving it. You will get what you give in any relationship.
14 this year...

They took the income penalty away though.. I saw that mentioned in here. Credit is individual. The only time it crosses is when you add her or she you to the account. Then its mutual. Same rules if you apply jointly or seprately.

People are married for a long time because they want to be. A marriage is work. If you already live together and still want to get married then thats half the battle. The other half is dealing with life as it comes and looking out for each other. She has your back and you hers. You need a certain amount of maturity for a marriage to work as well. In the end its all about

Just don't ever stop telling her & making her believe, you still love her & think she is hot. We ladies will put up with a lot of crap as long as you are good to us & make us feel we are special to you.

Here's some advice for you:

1. Read the entire works of Jane Austen. You'll need to be familiar with all the characters and be able to carry on a basic conversation about any topic regarding the story lines.

2. Never ever remove your wedding ring for any reason whatsoever. The wife will become extremely upset. Once it's on, it's on forever. I think the reason they become upset is because rumor has it that all men's wedding rings are engraved with some sort of elvish. Only fire will bring out the inscription. "One ring to rule them all. One ring to bind them. One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them."

That's just what I've heard, I'm too scared to remove mine and see.

I guess you don't work with electricity for a living. My wife understands the dangers of wearing metal with what I do for a living. We've been happily married for a very long time and I haven worn a band for most of those years.
The important thing is keeping her in very expensive rings. LOL

You always want to make your loan payments on time. The lower your credit score the more it will cost you in the long run when you borrow money through higher interest rates and fees.

Thanks guys for all the information! I was just a little worried because my credit is top notch and hers -- well, not so much :P but we have no intentions of opening up joint accounts or anything else for that matter.

There used to be a marriage "penatly" with income taxes but it was removed a few years ago

oh shit its back!

wiki quote:
The marriage penalty originated in 1969, when Congress tried to equalize what was then an advantage for couples, as compared to single taxpayers.[1]
In 1996, 42% of married taxpayers paid more because they were filing jointly than they would have if they had remained single, according to a 1997 Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis.[2] The average penalty among these couples was $1,380. Conversely, the same CBO analysis concluded that 51% of married couples paid less tax jointly than if they had not been married, with average savings of $1,300. The reason one couple would receive a benefit while another would receive a penalty lay in whether the couple's individual incomes were disparate (resulting in benefit) or roughly equal (resulting in penalty).[3]
Since then several pieces of legislation have been passed to further do away with the penalties. For example, the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 introduced section 1(f)(8) to the Internal Revenue Code, which mitigates the marriage penalty effect in the lower tax brackets.[4] Section 1(f)(8) adjusts the ceiling of the 15-percent tax bracket for joint return filers relative to the ceiling of the 15-percent tax bracket for unmarried spouses.[4] The Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 accelerated the benefit to joint return filers by eliminating the marriage penalty for 2003 and 2004 and the Working Families Tax Relief Act of 2004 extended the benefit to 2005-2007.[4] Therefore, the marriage penalty in the lower tax brackets will be eliminated through 2010.[4] Unless reauthorized by Congress, however, the marriage penalty will return in 2011.[4] However, through passing those pieces of legislation, the tax system is now such that couples with disparate incomes will pay less tax than they would have paid as two single taxpayers.[4]
