Winter preparations begin

:( Well, the car show, cruise, summer season is winding down, and the SS is going to the "Dr." tomorrow to have all his filters changed, along with the oil, followed by a final detailing before hibernation. :(

Although I prefer the cold/winter, I'm hoping the weather holds out for a few more weeks so that I can get a few more rides in.

Anyone else store their Camaro for winter?

I get to drive mine 365. It had been garaged kept up there in Des Moines, IA which is why there were so few miles. Sorry it has to hibernate. But, at least you get those beautiful snowy winters!

I for one, adore our winters. you can't beat the fluffy white stuff. It does suck though that there is always such a crapload of salt laid down.

Put your "baby" to sleep, Moose - it'll thank you when it wakes up, if you know what I mean

We have to put away the '79 early, like a month ago...it doesn't get driven much "given the semi-classic nature of the vehicle" So it gets put away late september, but alas, not like it should be.

It's my Dad's and so, he really doesn't pay too much attention, putting it away, to him, means parking it in the garage, leaving as much space between it, and the minivan as possible. If I had my way, the filters would all be changed, the oil, the coolant, the battery disconnected, and rags stuffed up the tailpipes, right before the cover goes on.

I put my 85 Chevy truck away last weekend.
It's in the barn on blocks as to not get a flat spot on the tires. It will get extra attention this year as I am moving from Snowy Northern Michigan (Oct 21st = 83F) (should be 25F) to Texas and he is not making the trip down there for the first year.

October is always a sad time for me, since I have to put it away.

on winter. Can't stand it, but ofcourse I live here in freaking NY. Wouldn't be so bad if they'd ease up on the damn salt, but people have to have bare pavement right up to their doorsteps.

67 degrees and raining right now here in good ole KY. My Camaro is the daily driver, unless there's ice then she stays in the garage. And anytime I have to drive in salt, the car wash calls my name... I just bundle up in my coat and put on some gloves!

Very glad we're getting some much needed rain though!!! This drought is a killer!!

Back home in Southern California it is in the mid 80s to low 90s all this week, with almost no humidity and the dreaded winds.

Here in Oxford, it is in the low 50s getting deep into the thirties at night, humid (but you can't tell) calm, alternating periods of clouds and sunshine.

I'm not sure which one I'd rather have right now

Sunny and about 86 today with a slight easterly breeze. Played golf and sweated mt a$$ off for most of the day. I feel sorry for the people that have to put the rides away for the winter. Downn in FL we are gearing up for car show season, there is a car show almost every weekend from now until late March. I have never thought about the winters up north and having to store your car out of the elements.

I agree. I'd never want to live somewhere that didn't have 'proper' seasons.

CA and FL are fine to visit, but I'd never live there.

My cars have always been daily drivers. My resources aren't deep enough to have 2 car payments.

That said I COULD keep my car in the garage during winter months since I have a garage. But really, we don't get THAT much snow here in South Jersey. Maybe 2 or 3 actual 'storms' each winter. And even then they may not be worthy of the title 'storm'. In the last 7 years I can only remember 2 or 3 times we got enough snow to be considered a nuisance.

NJ may have the highest property taxes and highest car insurance rates, but it is wonderfully liberal and has 'moderate' seasons (at least the southern region does anyway). LOL
