26 Dec - Weight 143 / Body fat 24.6%
7 Jan - Weight 140 / Body fat 21.8%

I am SUPER pleased with the body fat results and am SEEING the definition results in my arms already....I actually have biceps!!

Also wanted to share this link to some protein shake recipes that look pretty darned tasty to include Pina Colada, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Cookies & Cream to name a few. I am sure you can substitute whatever brand protein powser you have for the Isopure

You should be proud. Body fat doesn't drop as fast as weight, any reduction in body fat is A+++. Here is what I think about body fat calipers. Most of the non professional ones are not bad. Since we all here are passionate about our cars I will use this analogy. Body fat calipers are like dyno's, each kind reads differently, their accuracy is highly dependent on user ability, but just like a dyno although we all like to see great numbers ultimately that is not the most important aspect of it. When you make mods to your motor on the same dyno a comparison between thos numbers is what is important. So in the case of your body fat calipers the key is to use the same calipers, prefferably in the morning after all food is digested, be very carefull to take the same measurements in the exact same place and in the exact same way so even though you would like to see low body fat numbers more importantly is the comparison to the previous measurement, this is what shows progress. If you want to take it a step further if you want to calculate your fat and lean mass (as body fat coes down ideally lean body mass should go up) take your body fat percentage and multiply it by your body weight this number is the amount of fat you have. Now subtract this number from your totall weight and you have your lean mass number.

Alcohol is only second to fat in calorie density, that is why you hear vodka and tonic, the tonic water is very low or no calorie but the vodka is very high so lets say you mixed vodka with orange juice now you have added the calories from that. If you drink take in account the additional calories and add it to your daily consumption, a general rule is to drink a glass of water for every drink to prevent dehydration and flush the liver.
Thanks, CFD! I know I need to focus on calories in/calories out and the part about what you mix, etc. makes perfect sense. And I know it's not good for my liver, etc., but I really do mean just a couple of drinks once in a while. I haven't tied one on in a very long time....I'm too old for that crap!

Oh and the glass of water for every drink? Been doing that for years! Keeps me from having a hangover

Here is something you all may find useful in prepairing balanced meals. Exact amounts are a little more complicated as well as when you eat what but for general purposes this will give you an excellent starting point. Lets say you are looking to loose a substancial amount of fat and are on a 40-40-20 ratio. (40% carbs 40% protein and 20% fat) and are a middle aged woman and have figured out you need 1600 cals to create a deficit of 500 cals (good starting point for fat loss). So ideally you should be eating 3 full meals and two mini meals/snacks a day which would be about 350 cals a meal and a little less for snacks. Pick one carb source, one protein source and one fat source to meet the required amounts. So 350 x 40% is 140 cals from carbs, 350 x 40% is 140 cals from protein and 350 x 20% is 70% cals from fat. It seems complicated but this example will tie it all in. From the list below (these are all good food choices) pick one carb one protein and one fat source. So we will choose 3 oz chicken breast 3/4 cup brown rice and 6 oz grean beans this is about 347 cals. The ratios are not exact but it is nearly impossible to be that precise. Now spend a few minutes and go through the list pick your favorites and create your meals. Don't be afraid to spice things up, generally spices have no cals. You can pick more than one source of each as long as the numbers add up.

Ok, maybe it's just me, but all of that is too much work! I don't want to have to worry about the percentages of everything I eat and be forced to work an algebra problem every time I want a snack If I get that deep into it, I'll burn out in a hurry!

I'll stick with calorie counting and will pay attention to the fat and carb levels in everything as well, but that's all I can give right now.

It's actually quite easy, it's my expanation that is probably making it seem complicated, I one of thore guys who have to know how things work including my body. This may make it easier, from the healthy foods list pick one carb, one protein and one fat for each meal. The calories are listed so you will no what you are eating. The reason I went into detail because this simple method is a great start but all calories are not created equal. In theory if you only go by cals in and cals out you will fail. You could get your 1600 cals a day from hershey's bars, how do you think that will work. You cannot expect your beautiful Camaro to run good on bad gas, same with your body.

This may help as well. Bonnie has provided some delicious and well balanced meals for everyone, if you look at the bottom you will see a break down of the contents and low and behold, there the same as what I described, thank Bonnie she did all the work I described.
