IF only they still offered ABM on the Sonic in '12..

"I've got the Hedgehog edition, yo.. spool that turbo and the car curls up into a ball before running through everything in it's path."

Yeah, that's actually a really nice looking subcompact!!! And I think changing the name was a good idea, too...the 'Aveo' wasn't/isn't well regarded....

I hope it sells well against the fugly soul and other tiny cars in the market!

I think I just figured it out ...

It was all just a misunderstanding. See, when asked what they drive, Aveo owners probably tended to have a reply such as "ah, well ... uh ... awww I just can't say it". Its not that they couldn't pronounce 'Aveo', its just that they couldn't bring themselves to publicly admit to owning one. GM became convinced that this inability to say 'Aveo' was because of pronunciation instead shame.

*edit*
after reading the other recent replies ... I still believe my version over the 'mispronunciation' claims

The goal here is to make people proud to drive around in a Chevy subcompact. It starts with a cool car and a quality driving experience...

It continues if you can pronounce the name. hehehe

On a serious note, I think this car (being pretty darn nice for a tiny car), will take over the "I don't want to spend a lot of money on a car, so what's the cheapest thing you got" buyers that the Cobalt attracted. Especially since Chevy's entry in that segment was bumped upmarket a touch.

I think that's why the manufactures are
going with numbers or letters.....

Remember the Buick Electra 225?
or:
as it was known...the "duece and a Quarter"

That reminds me ... as I recall, the Jimmy got its name from GMC deuce-and-a-half trucks in WWII (they had a 2 1/2 ton carrying capacity). It was a tweaked way of saying 'G-M-C' as a single word: Gimmcee --> Jimmy.
