Commits weekly crime

Much of the advice earlier is good, but frankly...without knowing what you excel in and like...we are shooting blind here. In fact, we have no idea about what you've done based on what you said in your original post.
Have you applied to and/or been accepted to any colleges. You should already have some idea of what you like and do well in school as far as courses, right? Math? Engish/Literature? Science? Biology? Home Ec? Gym/Sports? Seriously, asking a public forum what you should do is kind of like doing a post on which color Camaro you should get. Only YOU are going to know this. People are right though...go to college if you can. If you can't, consider the military as well.

I joined the AF and was in Basic Training a month after graduation. Got my college paid for completely and enjoyed what I did. Now I am doing more college on the VA's dime. If you want to go to college but not sure for what yet, listen to PoorMansCamaro. His advice is good! However, I have ZERO regrets joining the AF. In fact, I miss it a lot.

Well I asked to see what many of you have done. All of you are successful in some way and I admire that. I'm just now getting started and would like to follow in the correct foot steps. I look up to some of the guys on here, and I trust many of you so I figured maybe coming to my camaro5 family I can get some ideas on some different paths people have followed and see where they are now. Obviously something was done right to own some nice cars...
I am an A and B student, and i excelled In english. I really enjoy writing. I am also in a Tech school in Auto Body and Collision Repair. So I have background in painting, welding, and all around mechanics. But over my 4 years I have realized I would like to airbrush on the side, but not mechanics as a career; a great back up though since I have knowledge. I have an imagination and some artistic skills i would like to put to use, but going to college for years scares me not being guaranteed anything. Owning my own company is a dream of mine, but that will take many years for me to accomplish. It is that transition from high school to the real world I am nervous about and not sure where to start. For all who have gave some advice and information on what you did, thank you very much. For anyone else, any form of wise words is appreciated!

You can start college as 'undecided' like PoorMansCamaro said and just start taking your basics. It will give you a feel for what you like.
You can also opt for a degree in 'Liberal Arts'. It allows you to have a broad knowledge base, rather than focusing on a set, directed path. Here's a link to a website giving a little more info on Liberal Arts. This was a website I looked at when I was in high school: http://www.fastweb.com/college-searc...eral-arts-mean |

I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. It definitely helped me grow up and figure out what I want to do ::fast forward to now:: I love what I do, I'm moving down to Dallas until 2015 when I get out, but attending school paid for by the military, bought my Camaro strait out cash, I'm loving life at 22
Hope whatever you choose turns out great!!! But, if you've never looked into the military, it's not bad.... well except my Camaro withdraws being in Afghanistan lol

Yup start with some humanities classes they help you find who you are and get ge out of the way. Also interning might be good. Nothing is better then getting your foot in the door any way you know how.

Well, if it was not for those trips you would not have paid for that Camaro in cash! If I had to guess anyways, since that is how I paid for some of my toys. ha ha. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Join the Army. Travel to exotic places, meet interesting people and..... Almost 20 years have flown by me. I dont regret any of it, and now I will retire at 39, finish my degree for free, and get a decent monthly paycheck for the rest of my life. Oh ya; and I have medical insurance for my entire family that costs $20.00 a month. Since I left school I never asked anyone for anything, and I lived a very interesting life. My kids are all grown, and my wife and I are going to start all over again.

I was a volunteer firefighter in my community, and thought if I like it, I might as well do it for a living... I went to Fire School @Texas A&M and got hired as soon as I graduated. I went on to Paramedic School when it came available.
It was a great career, but I never made much money. I came to work offshore nine years ago and make about seven times more than I ever made in the fire service. I am now a SubSea Engineer..

A few others have said it. If you have no idea what you want to do, go to a cheap school, and take transferable universal courses like Math, English, etc. So many times I wish I could go back and do that.
I spent 3 semesters at a private school till I realized it was a joke. Went to a state school for 3 semesters in Engineering department, then changed to Business major and been with that for my 4th semester. I'm in my 5th year. So much wasted time and money. I would have gone to a community college and done basic courses or gotten a associates cheap and quick and live at home and save money for later years and work..., by then I'd know what Id want to do and transfer to a school in that field, and go at it and use the money i saved working the prev 2 years so i could finish on time. |
