I think it's funny that Rush says 6 sentences and Motor Trend feels the need to reply with an essay. Obviously SOMEONE cares what he has to say (like someone who got his feelers hurt on MT?)

The dumbest thing about this is that Motor Trend feels they have to defend the choice.

The award is nowhere near important enough to need defending.

I don't give a flying f*$k what Rush believes.

If you look at some other Motor Trend COTY winners, it might make sense.

That's why they don't have an additional COTPY (car of the past year) award to see if they matched up and held their own. Most of them didn't, or won't.

Besides, if everyone who didn't know crap shut up, we'd have nothing but cricket chirps heard 'round the world.

At least MT got SOMETHING right:

To everyone saying "who cares about Rush", as other people have said, unfortunately many people do.
That being said, I still can't believe that people can take that guy seriously. Funniest thing is that his supporters are your typically die-hard xenophobes, and yet he sits there and bashes an American automaker. I'm not even a big fan of GM, but props for going out on a limb to build this car.

Actually, it probably went down like this:

Motortrend names Volt COTY.

Rush responds.

A large number of Rush listeners who are also Motortrend readers write letters to MT saying "Yeah! What he said!"

Motortrend responds.

Had MT named the Volt 2010 COTY, I could understand Limbaugh's outrage, but the Volt will be the biggest advance in the automotive industry in 2011. Hopefully they don't come off the line and suffer massive QC problems, it would give the naysayers too much ammo.

Just for fun, ya should search Motor Trend and go back a few pages to when a lot of the "Camaro vs" articles were coming out. Apparently at that time, many of you didn't find MT's opinion as reliable and enjoyable as you do now.

So for future reference, it's good journalism when they like Chevy. It's bias hack paid-off-by-hyundai when they don't?

Their are segments of the population and media slamming GM and the Volt for a multitude of reasons that have been talked to death already. Politics aside, I am tired of the media, corporations, and consumers manipulating and twisting the facts to fancy their deranged perspective of reality. The Volt is an advanced car that takes a siginificantly different approach to fuel efficiency than what has been the norm in the US.

You used "efficiency" loosely. At what cost will you be able to justify its "efficiency"? I don't care who started it, let's take away that governement subsidy and see how long the Volt lasts in showrooms. Answer- it won't be long.

Let's say you buy a Cruze, that looks similar for oh, 16K. That's about 14K or so from the Volt MSRP. At 3 bucks per gallon, averaging 25 mpg (it might even be more), you bought yourself 116K miles of fuel for the difference. And you haven't even plugged in your Volt first.

So what's so efficient about it again?
