If Auburn or Oregon slip up then Boise or TCU will step in.

The one thing it really goes to show you is how competitive college football is, how hard it is to be great year in and year out.

Alabama has alot of talent, albeit young talent, and I believe were living on last years accomplishments and basically got punched in the mouth. It will be a good learning experience if they will listen and learn.

It is really amazig to me that alot often lose sight of the fact that most of these kids are 18 to 21. We as adults put alot of stock into these kids to perform and when they slip, the things that come out of some peoples mouth is abosolutely insane.

In a rabid football state like Alabama it is dis-heartening at some of the noise that people spew about these kids. Not good clean fun, that is not what I am talking about, you know the type, the ones who are rude obnoxious drunks.

I love the Tide no matter what and may be a rare Alabama fan in the fact that I hope Auburn wins the whole thing, another for the SEC, not to mention the fact that it would thrill my little boy.
Very well said.

If anyone is frustrated with their program, they should always direct their anger towards the coaches and staff, not at the kids. It is the coaching staff's job (and they get paid hansomely for it) to manage a group of youngsters making the transition from youth to men. It's the coach's job to get these kids focused on doing all the right things and none of the wrong things. And when the player makes a mistake, it's the coach's job to teach the player how to learn from their mistake, not wallow in it.

It's also the coach's job to teach their players that nothing is a given, and that you've got to work hard for everything. It's very obvious to me that teams like Texas started to believe all they had to do was show up and they would win. I just hope that by the end of the year, the coaches teach and the players learn that if they want a win, they better put in the time and effort and show up hungry.

I also hope Texas fires their offensive coordinator. But that's mostly a pipe dream. Too many people think he's solely responsible for the athletic talent and leadership in Vince Young and Colt McCoy. I, however, firmly believe those two athletes managed to become superstars in spite of the horrendous play-calling that comes from Greg Davis' pie hole. In the case of Vince, I firmly believe at least half of the plays that Greg Davis called were simply ignored and Vince called his own plays. Colt was simply lucky because he had his very talented friend at receiver who he knew he could count on to catch the ball and make people miss.

Now we've got Gilbert who was an amazing high school player that's been thrown into a position where he doesn't have the kind of confident strong-hands receiver like Jordan Shipley yet to step up and he's blindly following the instruction of his offensive coordinator (and quarterbacks coach), Greg Davis.

www.firegregdavis.com

Yeah, this website was started back around 2000 or 2001, it disappeared for a while when Vince and Colt were there, and it has now resurfaced. I'm not surprised, either.

You are very correct. I watched the Texas game this passed week and wondered why they did not pull Gilbert. I mean 5 int's. Didn't Mack Brown learn anything last year.

I understand that he is trying to win games and a 2 QB system may not work, and seldom does, unless you are LSU, but that is another story.

My point is Colt got hurt and Texas went down because Garrett had no experience. Garrett is struggling this year becuase he doesn't have strong receivers. Against K State alot of this int were his fault, not his receivers.

I really wanted to see in McCoy's little brother could play and there is only one way to find out, play him.

Alabama on the other hand is in the same boat. They just thought they could show up and win because they had a bunch of stars out beside their name when they were recruited. Alabama will learn from this year and be better for it, will they win another NC, who knows.

College football is getting closer and closer. With the limitation of scholarships and the amont of talent available, kids want to play and play well to get to the league.

People always think you have to come from a big name school, WRONG. Look at MNF, or anytime they show where NFL players are from. Alot of times these players come from smaller schools.

I agree that they should try the younger McCoy at QB. Colt wasn't an "excellent athelete" but more of a great football mind. He won football games with his head and arm. I don't expect him to be just like his brother but he could be comparable. Gilbert is just not getting it done.

I've heard rumors that Texas is looking at our (Holgerson) offensive coordinator.

Texas isn't playing the younger McCoy because the season is basically done and they don't want to waste a year by not letting him be able to red shirt.

Thats not correct Connor wood is the one who is redshirting Case got to play in Game 1 and Game 2 MORE in 2 than 1.
Mack Brown said the reason Case never went in last week was he wasnt warmed up with 7 minutes to go in the game.

So his reshman season is almost over.

Texas didnt lose because of a QB who was not expierenced. Garrett did actually pretty good in the 2nd half of the game against Bama. He had mister automatic catching the ball and we dam near caught up. You cant blame that last fumble down by the goal line on Garrett Gilbert since he was blindsided and the tackle didnt do his blocking assignment letting the Bama guy have a 100% free shot on gilbert. Since 2006 our offensive line has sucked 100% and they have never really given much protection. Off line coach Mcworter needs to be fired and Major applewhite is not a Rb's coach.
Texas deffense let 2 good runningbacks gain to many yards ( mainly on 4 very BIG runs 2 for Td's ) Thats what killed us in that game. When Colt went out the deffense played 3 more drives then basically Folded.

IMO our offensive play calling was to Soft in the first half after Colt went down. We basically ran ran ran and punted in the 1st half then In the 2nd half we opened up the play calling and we moved the ball by throwing to Shipley and Goodwin.
Basically the same thing this year we have been trying to establish a running game with no line and no RB.

Colt was the running game last year for us ( last RB we have had was jamal charles ) This is why we went back to a pro style offense so we could recruit RB's again.

Texas has 3 four star WR's but they are not using them as how they have in the past. Wr's and QB dont have timing down why ? Team has tried to establish a running game first and by that time its over and time to play catch up.

The team has basically given up to this point.

This Team needs a clean fresh start this season is toast and has been from day 1 they never looked right from Game 1.

Oh well after 12 years going strong I guess a let down year is expected.......just not like this .

SOMETHING THIS TEAM DOESNT HAVE IS LEADERSHIP down below are the leaders each season we have had since 04 Rose Bowl.....

04 cedric benson
05 Vince Young
06 Limas Sweed
07 The whole deffense
08 Quan Cosby
09 colt Mccoy

No one ever stepped up this year as we dont have many seniors on the offense to do so ( kyle hix isnt a leader )
Acho is the only leader this team has and he is on deffense and only he can get himself to listen as everyone else is lost.

Jek,

I wasn't blaming the loss on Colt's injury, and I thought Gilbert played great especially under the circumstances. I am probably one of the few that thinks it takes a TEAM to win.

You are so correct in the fact that Texas could not run the ball, they couldn't keep Bama honest and the result is the result.

Bama is in the same boat this year. Last year Alabama lived off of it's defence. It made up for alot of mistakes by the offence and had ALOT of leadership. This year was supposed to be the offences time to step up and they haven't.

BUT I ain't mad at them, even if the lose the rest this year I couldn't be mad. It is os hard to repeat and unrealistic to think you are. In 3 years we have lost 2 regular season games so far and 1 National Champioship.

I actually went to the Rose Bowl with my brother and of course I was happy that Bama won and it made the trip better. I had a great trip and I just checked off the number one thing off my bucket list. The thrill of going and winning can never be explained, I wish EVERY program and Fan could experience it, it is definitely a once in a lifetime experience that I wish all who love college football could experience.............oh and Roll Tide

With M, I don't have enough faith in our defense to give anybody points. This have got to be the worst defense M ever put on a football field. Last game with the Illinis scoring 65 pts, I was all for giving R the boot. That's not M's football !

That Arkansas game did hurt, but tonight helped make it feel a lot better when we won @ Florida to clinch the SEC East! Go Cocks!

And Michigan won too, awesome day so far. Really need Clemson to find a way to lose to make it perfect.
